What are your feelings on Coach Crean?

Recommended Posts

Noah Vonleh needs at least one more year of development in college, and I hope he realizes that and stays.

Crean can at least tell top tier bigs that Cody got the most shots in his two years here, but that was a different team and offense.

Cody "needed another year of development in college", came back, left after his 2nd and is horrible in the NBA. You will develop better in the NBA than in college. Nearly no 1 and dones are "ready" when they leave.

Cody isn't an NBA caliber player and doesn't have an NBA body. We shouldn't be shocked he isn't performing well this year and we should never expect him to be more than a solid role player. I wouldn't begin to compare him and Vonleh

You actually develop a little better in college because you get so much more practice time. I've seen a lot of draft guys say college develops better and that's one reason why Embiid from Kansas should stay even though he could be the number one pick this year.

Noah has crazy potential (much higher than Cody), but still needs some work on both ends. Leave now, and he'll develop a little slower and it'll be a few years before he's really good in the NBA. Another year of college will do much good for him.

The NBA will have a better coaching staff, and competition. I agree that college development is good, I DO NOT agree that IU is the place for a big to develop for the NBA.

Hmmm.....I would feel inclined to point out that its been changes from our traditions that seem to led us to where we are today. You can change the uniforms if you want, but that's not going to put banner #6 up. Facilities are getting a major upgrade already. Personally it seems the more we buy into trying to run NBA style offenses the more we maintain mediocrity. That's what we need to upgrade.

Man, those antiquated uniforms are really killing us though.  We've only been able to land the likes of Zeller and Yogi and Vonleh and Robinson and Blackmon and had Watford and Hulls commit before that.  Actually, wait, it doesn't look like the uniforms are hurting much since recruiting is a vital part of college sports.

And I still hate our offense.

Develop more in college? No chance. It's your job in the NBA with no limitations on practice time.

Not all development is physical.  That is what they are saying.  Plus, there is about the same limit on practice time in college as the NBA.  Most players do the work outside of practice, just like college.  No coach in the NBA is having their players go hard for more than a couple of hours or they would lose that team.  More of a grind in the NBA than college with 82 games.  In the NBA if you can't do something, you get left behind.  I think it is harder to develop in the NBA if you don't have a solid base skill set than the NBA.

The problem is there isn't much in-season practice in the NBA. Most, if not all, real development in the NBA happens in the summer.

In college, players practice hard during the season and in the summer, allowing them to develop year round.

We need INFRARED. Yeah, like postseason U of L's uniforms. Wait, how about we have jerseys with LED lights on them that flash whenever we hit a jumper? Or "INDIANA" can be written in tribal lettering?

Give me a break.
