IU Hoosier41

Official Indiana vs Illinois Game Thread

Recommended Posts

The Jeff Howard Effect will decide this game. Kidding, of course.

Hoosiers have a good opportunity to open the conference slate with a solid road win. That said, I don't know if they can come out with a win today.

This will be a tough, hard fought game.  Both teams are young, with a lot of new faces.  Illinois returned more, and is on their home court.  I'm not expecting an IU win, but I wouldn't be surprised either.  IU has to play tough defense, rebound, and stay out of foul trouble.  Yogi needs to get back to attacking the lane and letting the offense go from their.  Give in to Fischer because he will be able to take their bigs.  Hollowell and Sheehey really have to step up in this one.

If Yogi can stop Abrams, IU has a very good chance at winning this one.

I'm from Illinois, so naturally I hate Illinois more than I hate Purdue or UK (you understand if you ever have been around Illinois fans). Quite possibly the worst fans in all of sports, seriously. I was in Champaign last year for the buzzer beater and I was sick for a week, until Illinois lost again and their fanbase jumped off the bandwagon. This game makes me so nervous because I see a 40% chance of a W. Pull this one out for us, Hoosiers. Please.

will be tuned in at work and listening to the fisch. I almost feel like this is sorta like the notre dame game, yet this is an actual road game. We all know we can win it, but i just think it will take them to keep pushing when they are fatigued. this is going to be an interesting game, with all this other "drama". Go HOOSIERS!

I've been with the same office going on 5 years now- never have closed early on NYE.  When I saw we were playing UI at 3:00, I made the boss think we closed early every year, lol.  I went to his office and said "I think we've closed early on NYE before- 2:00 sound good this year?"

Lol that's awesome! I started my day at 5am to ensure I'm home for game time!

Damn 3pm gametime...  I work until probably about 5.  Set the DVR, and I won't be on until I watch it.  Please be good lol.  Pretty pretty please Charlie.  I want to enjoy the game or hate it?  I have the feeling even though Luke was in no way a distraction or cancer this transfer will refocus the staff and they will play out their ass.  I am honestly feeling the Hoosiers today.  Crean can spin things like no other.  You know on the way up to Champaign he is using this as motivation.  Lets get this!

Right there with you.  I'm from Illinois, right on the other side of Princeton, IN.  I can't stand most Illinois fans.  Unfortunately, the In-Laws (except my wife's immediate family), are all Illini fans.  It's crazy.  Luckily, one of her cousins lives in Indiana now, and has become an IU fan.  Much needed haha.

If IU wins, it will make my life so much easier with the in-laws lol.  My wife's parent's don't really watch college basketball, but do enjoy giving me a hard time when Indiana loses to Illinois for fun.

Do people think we'll see Noah for something closer to 30 minutes this afternoon? Luke being gone, and still don't think Hanner has shown much to trust him a ton in conference play. And playing Howard probably isn't a great option against B1G play either

Just curious on this- if you have to DVR a game, do you follow the scoring on the game threads on here (or, blasphemy, a site like Yahoo! Sportacular), or do you avoid it so you can see the game on your own terms?  I'm 50/50, depending on who we play.  If it's a cupcake, I'll follow the thread.  If it's a game I need to see, I'll avoid all media like the plague!

You have it way worse on the family side. My whole family is from Indiana and are IU fans. Family isn't the issue for me, it's that I'm from about 30 minutes from Champaign and all I ever hear about is "that one Illinois team that should've beaten UNC, or that other Illinois team, no thanks to Lou Henson blah blah blah".

I usually avoid all media.  If it's a cupcake and I have to go somewhere, I will check my phone and watch it later.  However, if I have nothing going on, no matter who it is, I avoid all media.  I just like watching it on my own terms, and judging the game myself.

Well, my entire family is completely IU.  They are in Illinois as well.  They are my refuge lol.  One thing I like being in Mizzou Country, the great dislike for anything Illinois :)

the only two people in my family that follow basketball and are die hard fans are my grandpa who is a huge pUKe fan, and his son my uncle is a purdue fan. us three are  the only ones in the family that follow college hoops, so you can imagine the things i have to hear from them lol
