Every once in a while I stumble across something special and hard to find.

Bill Fox is a guy from Cleveland that fronted a band named The Mice that was rising really fast, but he quit because he was an extreme introvert that wasn’t comfortable with people appreciating and paying attention to him and his music.

Then he started to make music again 15 years ago, but won’t promote it.

It simple, lyrically awesome, very tuneful, honest, and outstanding. Bill Fox:

I’ve been listening to a lot if Chris Cornell lately — front man / singer - songwriter- guitarist of Audioslave, Soundgarden, and Temple of the Dog, and later solo artist before he took his own life. A fantastic singer/songwriter with great range, lyrics and power. Should be in the rock & roll HOF, another great one lost. Worth sifting through his songs- special artist

Check this out. This is just plain cool. I’d be a sucker for it under any circumstances because Amadeus is probably a top 10 movie for me, love it, and the Confutatis scene is the brilliant climax. That this guy inserted this beautiful graphic score scrolling in real time with the writing and playing is awesome. Bravo to the guy. Oh, and the music’s pretty good.

This sounds really pretentious, but... I've really been into the Swedish/Norwegian stoner rock scene for awhile.  Graveyard is one of my favorites- this song ends with a "nod" to Free Bird (in a total jam kind of way).  Such a strong voice.

RIP to R&B legend Sam Moore, of Sam and Dave fame. 1 of the best-selling R&B acts ever. If you want to check out a very cool music doc, seek out “Only the Strong Survive.” It’s about a reunion show of Stax  Records artists maybe 20 yrs ago and it’s terrific. Sam Moore was great in it.

I don’t if anyone else has looked for this, but this is the full track of the music from the B1G commercial. Interesting choice. A 10 yo largely unlistened to track from a smallish Indie band. Ok song, though. Overproduced for my taste, but not bad.

Took the night off from games and Woody bashing, though that will never get old, and watched the documentary, “Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song”, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Kind of an unusual structure in that it uses the various stages of the evolution of “Hallelujah” from origin to cultural quasi-phenomenon as kind of a touchstone for the stages of Cohen’s career. But it works and if you’re into Cohen it’s well worth the time. Gotta confess: there is no tour I regret missing more than Cohen’s farewell tour. It’s always looked like a straight up singular experience.

Happy Birthday to Steve Earle. That he’s led the life he has and made it to 70 is miraculous. About 15 years from now some currently probably unknown actor is gonna win an Oscar playing him because the guy is 1 of the all-time biopic subjects.

I have been to Carnegie Hall and The Metropolitan Opera went to New York in 2003 for 5th grade spring break with my aunt and grandma. My aunt and I had been planing that trip for years mostly for the opera. Was walking down the street in New York and I yelled out to my aunt that we were walking past Carnegie Hall and so we went in and bought tickets. It was a Sunday night that we had tickets to see the Cincinnati orchestra and Monday it was to the opera it was Puccini fantastic trip although security was high.

Came across this little album this morning and it’s a nice record. Chuck Prophet is a guy whose name I vaguely knew as a California indy dude who’s been hanging around forever, but that’s it. He just released an album called “Wake the Dead” in collaboration with a Latino act called Qiensave. The guy writes fun, interesting lyrics, the Latin flavor is a strong mix with him and it’s just got a great vibe. Anyone looking for 40 mins a little off the beaten path, solid thumbs up.
