Dave, thanks a lot, I used to live in Dayton (1976-79). Shortly we're releasing an EP with a dance-club version of the song and also a karaoke music track. In the meantime, if you or anyone else wants to help, please spread the word!

By the way, guys, this song is just a silly thing to get my name (Lee Silver) noticed. My next song will be an original, not a parody, and not a campy ditty like this one. Nov. 14, 1964: Rolling Stones flop in Dayton

Fewer than 1,000 of the 6,000 seats in the new Hara Arena were filled for the appearance of the Rolling Stones in Dayton.

The band had also bombed in Ft. Wayne and Cleveland before coming to Dayton.

Lead singer Mick Jagger was still able to get some enthusiasm from those that did attend their shortened concert.

The band was only on stage for less than 20 minutes and sang only eight songs, of what the Dayton Daily News reporter called, “their brand of noise.”

The reviewer went on to say, “Except for unanimously shunning barbers the group has utter disdain for uniformity, even to the point of working in whatever costume they happened to be wearing when it’s time to go on.”

Brian Jones, a founding member of the band, did not make the trip to Dayton, he was ill in a Chicago hospital at the time.

And while they’ve done some nice things, sadly they were never that uniquely excellent again.

Just a few months after this album came out I saw the Cowboy Junkies perform at the Bluebird in Bloomington, Indiana. It was truly wonderful, although it did not compare to Dr. Bop and the Headliners. But then again, what did?

My IU gf and I enjoyed 'The Bird' (the Bluebird) oh so very much.  Her apartment was on Washington Ave one block from the Bird.  Remembering fondly

I have no idea how many times I’ve watched Almost Famous. A truly great music movie, love it. It’s based on a tour by the Allman Brothers that Cameron Crowe covered when he was 15. Sort of watching tonight and I just saw this Stillwater poster on William Miller’s wall that’s a re-creation of the Live at Fillmore East cover. How have I never noticed this? What a nice little shout out.

Not to bang on Spotify’s big annual reveal, but it just told me that my most listened to song of 2023 was “Love Lies Dying” by The Del Lords, which I like but don’t remember listening to a single time, let alone the 51 times they’re asserting. But hey, since I apparently love it, here ya go.

Ok, I need some feedback if anybody’s got it. After years of not doing it, I want to dive into Sparks a bit. Other than the FFS collaboration with Franz Ferdinand, which is terrific, I know next to nothing about them. I look at their discography and I’ve never seen so much music. They’ve got to have 40 or 50 albums over pushing 50 years. Unbelievable and overwhelming. Anyone with any thoughts on where to jump in with these guys? Saw that Edgar Wright did a doc on them. Will definitely check that out.
