We should be good to go the only thing that sucks about the possibility of not winning the group is the fact we will probably play Belgium and Belgium is turning heads right now with Hazard leading them

Depends on the margin of defeat. Say Germany beat us 2-1. Portugal beats Ghana 3-0. Our goal differential would be 0, while Portugal would be -1, so we would advance. 

 

 

On the other hand, we could lose by 1 while Ghana wins 2-0. Then our differential would be 0 and Ghana would be +1, so we'd be out. 

 

 

A close win by Portugal is the most beneficial to the U.S.

Portugal Ghana tie is a guaranteed advance regardless of what happens in our game. If Portugal wins by 3 or less and we lose by 1, we're in (I think, that was quick math). And then you can go Portugal by 2 us lose by 2 and so on. If Ghana wins and we lose, I think Ghana can only win by 1 for us to be safe. Then total goals scored comes into the tiebreaker. If total goals is tied, we go to head-to-head.
