And Oladipo and Zeller and Watford lol

Well, we could say we miss all kind of players, and we are definitely missing shooters this year. But as far as Zeller goes, Vonleh is a great replacement for him. We probably miss Zeller the least from last years team. We have athletic replacements for Oladipo and Watford, sadly, but not for their shooting at this point. Hulls is the one so far I think we miss the most. I don't think that this team has a replacement for his basketball IQ, his shooting, or his abilities as a floor general. So I would say that this team misses Jordy the most, as far as the other 3, we have the ability, but we are missing the 2 or 3 years experience they brought in last year. I do not see anyone on this team at this point who even shows the ability to be what Jordy was.

Dan Dakich on twitter: IU-1st road game v Top 10 team..real athleticism some skill no shooting..Sheehey/Ferrell should b called out..they're responsible 4 the team

He's right, Yogi's stats might look pretty good but he hasn't been that good imo.

Actually, I think the only position we "upgraded" at was Jordan's because we got SO much better defensively at that position. We also became a better rebounding team with Jordan gone. Jordan was a great player, but I think the 2 is the only position we upgraded at with all the people that left.

Agree completely, but will take it further. I've stated this a few times, but we will miss his floor general presence the most. This team was calm every time he was on the floor. He would calm down any player, and never get too upset with a ref. He wasn't the biggest or the most athletic, but the team listened to Jordy more than anyone on the floor. Oladipo was great for energy, but Jordy was the glue guy everyone listened too.

I can never say it enough how much he meant to us in the Temple game. He was hurt, but we still played our best when he was on the floor. We struggled when he went out. Yogi and Will are the leaders right now, but they don't have the leadership qualities of Jordan.

I would love to see Jordan and Oladipo rip into the team for not thinking they would win, and were surprised they were in it for half the game. You can not replace leadership, and that is very evident!

I thought Stan provided the best bench play of anyone on the team last night, and it wasn't even close.

Better than DD? Thought DD gave us good minutes off the bench, but wasn't able to play the second half, went to the locker room before half time

I don't even think he scored.

....... There is more to basketball than scoring. His movement in the zone was good, had just as much if not more energy than anyone else, was active on the boards, and his defense was fine.

He was also 0/3 from the field. He played awful just like everybody else on the team. The only other player that played even half decent off the bench was Hanner.

DD didn't really play awful. I mean if the only stat that counted was points per game then yeah he did. But there is more to basketball than points per game and shooting percentages. Hanner didn't really play all that well, he had one play were he looked okay, other than that he did nothing but foul like he always does.

To prove you wrong again, DD had 3 rebounds Hanner had 2 and DD had more minutes. Also, Hanner came in and played well, (1/1 from the field) especially compared to Luke Fischer who I could have played better than.

Again Hanner really didn't play all that well. He got out of position a few times on defense, at least one that led to a foul, his one basket was more of him just jumping all over the place than anything he did fundamentally well. DD played pretty well. I don't like doing this, but did you actually watch the game? You are only using things you can get out of a box score rather than mentioning anything they actually did on the court

Unless there is something I am missing, there is no upgrade at Jordy's position. Yes, he wasn't the most athletic. But his defense was not as bad as some made it out to be. He was going to give up points to more athletic players. No question there. And yes, the rebounding is better, but it should be. 7 out of 10 shots this team takes gives them a opportunity for a rebound. But Jordan Hulls ran the floor and we don't have anybody doing that this year. Yogi has a lot of talent, but just not the basketball IQ and leadership abilities that Jordan had. That may develop for him, he's only a soph. All in all, at the guard positions we have more athleticism, but we are missing too much that Jordy brought to the game for it to be a upgrade. Potentially? Maybe, we'll see what these guys are like in a couple more years.

I did watch the game, the whole game, and DD did not play well at all. If you want to credit him for bringing energy, I could have brought energy.

There are no leaders on this year's team, and we desperately need one.

Stan Robinson played well at first, but he was downright terrible in the few minutes before he was taken out. The fact that he may be considered our best bench player last night shows just how bad we played. I didn't think Davis played well either. Hanner was okay.

So explain to me again what Hanner brought to the table? It certainly isn't anything offensively given that unless he gets an offensive rebound he isn't a part of the offense. And defensively he was awful.
