Newton led the team in scoring and assists for the second title team and was second in rebounds. But yea….im sure he didn’t have anything to do with them winning it all. Lmao..,do you guys even watch the things you talk about here????

A single transfer, who had been with the program multiple years. Wow. How does that explain his lack of success his first 4 years? Tristan Newton the first guy in the history of college basketball to transfer? Don’t hurt yourself.

Yea, he’s recruited well but wouldn’t have won either title without the transfer and nil rules

His first title was mostly all the guys he recruited.  He did it the old fashion way.  He had some great back to back to back recruiting classes.   Newton was the only transfer on that first team if I’m remembering right

Calcaterra and Diarra were solid 7th and 8th guys off the bench but yeah…narratives.

Hurley didn’t win a tournament game until the 3rd year of unlimited transfers. 4/5 of his starters during his first title run were organically recruited out of high school. Stop your yapping, you look silly.

Personal insults is such a sunshine pumper thing.  Can't you just have a conversation without belittling somebody else?  It lessens your argument and brand.

Being purposely obtuse deserves to be called out as does arguing in bad faith.

Regardless of who inherited a worse situation and the realistic turnaround time for the era, there is something about that UConn program that produces serious results, even with several different coaches.  Basically the opposite of IUBB since the late 90’s.

The DDV / Hurley comparison is classic message board fodder, but not really a fruitful discussion because of all the ways the game has rapidly changed in recent years. At the end of the day basketball is basketball though - NIL and transfers notwithstanding.

Your point is the most noteworthy one IMO.

If this team makes the tournament will you consider yourself a "slow learner" ??????

You can't have conversations without personal insults.  Noted.

I have nothing against you, Josh -- but it would seem to me calling someone a 'sunshine pumper' is a personal insult.

Anyway, y'all can carry on.

He’ll just move the goal posts and double down on next year lol

Have you been moving the goalposts since Archie was hired?

Hurley was figuring things out in year 3. He didn’t have the players in the first 2 years or didn’t have the culture but you could see glimpses of it and even with them losing in the first round against New Mexico St you could see that he was on the verge of putting it together.  Just sucks he is a.. because he is a really good coach

Nope. Doubled down on Woodson though deserving a 4th year and completely owned it. Something tells me you aren’t that guy though.

Josh would have fired him twice by then lol

11 seeds don't impress me.

As of today they are projected around the 9 or 10 range but I get it.  Ius first ever double digit seed came during the Crean years. (10 seed that lost to Wichita State) Before that IU never was a double digit seed in its history of the tourney

You should go back to the fire Woody thread and continue your defense of him since you were the last man standing there. Your takes and basketball knowledge are continually some of the poorest on this board. Proven many times over.

But for everyone else…Yes, having a first team All American transfer in was a big reason Hurleys team went from decent to championship level. That’s obvious to most, but for you…
