I’d say we’ve now lost any momentum that great stretch might have earned us. Like I said the other day, this has all the feels of Crean era. Besides our recruiting hasn’t fell off. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 After staying with the Spartans in the 1st half, we just didn't have the firepower to stay with them in the 2nd half. MSU shoots over 50% FG and 47% on 3s for the game vs 42% and 27% for us. Outrebounded again although we did do a better on our own board. Claxdj01 Posted January 1 Posted January 1 I don’t understand the reasoning of not letting some bench players have a shot. Makalusky is useless and now plays almost the entire game. They lose by 20 every time they play a real team. Quote

Must be one heck of a nice girl (a player that deserves better)….as it was kind of easy to see reality was always waiting during pre big ten (Z or no Z)…one reason a freshman players have to be really pretty elite to make major positive impacts, and team just not have enough T.Moren system talent. When Z first got injured for some reason I thought I seen or heard a date of January 29. Then others were saying December 29 so I thought I misread or misheard. TTT Posted January 1 Posted January 1 YES Defense is important along with Rebounding and taking care of ball ….but players/teams have to be able to score (stroke it, score in traffic, put the ball in the basket, shoot short, mid, long ball and make shots)….Question? If IU Ladies were able to get offensive rebounds at a high clip….how much more would they actually score? Maybe, a little or do they just accumulate more missed shots? Quote

Are you family of a bench player? my guess is, practice scrimmages and otherwise indicate she’s the best option. (Ability to occasionally hit the shot, good length, future contributor, and previous successes) The other guard (idk her name) is getting more looks and time. Clearly being an Indiana miss basketball means nothing yet we add them to the rosters, Makalusky, Spreen, and wiseman all contribute 0 but makalusky gets all the minutes. Michigan state had a girl from north Vernon Indiana who’d be 2nd behind Shay, Britt prince who was a big whiff on our recruiting is killing it in this Nebraska Iowa game. Quote

Britt was a big miss for sure but that can be said for other schools too. Spreen, Mak, Wiseman. Staff is with them all the time. They scrimmage each other. I generally think they find who they think gives them the best chance. We don’t have athletes (Z), Size, or Consistent shooting (Shay) anywhere on this roster and especially not on the bench. I, however think the sum of our parts should still be better than we are. Missing a consistent inside scorer and defender just fully magnifies all of our problems. I imagine as our season goes along, others will get chances. Stotjin has played and time is declining. She’s been bad. Jerni is playing now. She hustles, but can’t make shots. If it’s about playing time, then whatever but this isn’t rec league. We aren’t winning with this roster no matter who is getting on the court. unless Shay gets unconscious with her shooting. Quote

But, I don't know who on the bench could contribute big time, if given a larger role. Seems like if they set Ondineme loose, she has the potential to do damage. Sad to see a team like Illinois get a bunch of players like Wallace and Parchment. They play immediately and contribute immediately. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
