IU feeling good about hosting NCAA first round……

Got this email yesterday:

NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament

 

	NCAA - All Session
Information This is a request only at this time Dates: March 22 - March 25  Specific Dates and times will be determined after the Selection Show on March 17th  Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall - Bloomington, IN  Reserved seating: Court Level and entire Main Level seating area.  General Admission seating: East and West Balconies.  Price: Adult: $40 reserved; $30 general admission  Youth (under 18): $20  Senior (65+): $30 reserved; $20 general admission  University Students: $20  All Session Package includes two sessions and three games. Session One will have two first round games and session two will have one second round game. If you have any specific seating needs, please include them in the comment box.  There is no need for additional seating preferences if requesting General Admission seating.  Limit request of six (6) tickets per account  Request will be fulfilled based on the IU Priority Point System  Deadline to request: March 1st  This is a request only at this time

The IU women are 21-3 with their losses being on the road at the #2, #3, and #4 teams.  They should feel good about their chances hosting in the first round.

Early top 16 reveal has us at 4 seed.

I certainly feel good about our chances - requested my allotment of 6 reserved seats the minute I got the email!  Go Hoosiers!!!!!!

Overall #15....should be higher IMO. 21-3 with losses to the #2,3, and 4 teams (all on the road) gets you the #15 spot?  I understand that there are less upsets in the women's game and that there are more few loss teams than in the men's game, but it doesn't seem like Virginia Tech has four losses including a 17 point loss to unranked Duke (and are currently down by 2 late to Duke again, this time at home).

The general explanation the ESPN crew was that us and LSU were getting dropped for weaker non conference schedule.

Had a feeling that could be a problem when our schedule came out. It also didn't help that we scheduled fewer games than other teams.

They did, but they also played Stanford (ranked #3 now), Princeton (ranked #25), and Tennessee (third in the SEC now and were ranked #19 when IU played them) and beat two of them.

Women's top teams just have a much slimmer margin because of the difference between top teams and mid teams.

#15 is fair. Yes they only have losses to top five teams. However, they have not beaten a single team projected higher than a seven seed. They have dominated teams at the back end of the tournament. With that said, they have not beaten anyone who is projected to host or be playing in second weekend of March Madness. 

Committee looks at who team has beat, as much as who they have lost to. No bad losses and plenty of good wins. However, no great wins either. Beating Iowa next week is critical. Especially if they lose to someone else.

Multiple teams ahead of us that are confusing. Oh well.. win Monday and beat the poop out of Iowa.
