Well considering IU is three games ahead of fourth and fifth with tiebreakers, it is nearly certain IU will finish with the one, two, or three seed for Big Ten Tourney. Now facing them in the 3-6 or 2-7 game on Friday would indeed be a nightmare and is possible. Hopefully MSU gets the four of five seed and IU can't face them before the weekend.

MSU is in a three way tie with Nebraska and Penn State right now, but Nebraska plays Ohio state and Iowa next.  Both MSU and Penn State have favorable schedules.  Could be MSU/Penn State in the 4/5 spots.

We really need to get Sydney back.  Having to use Lexi with starter minutes leaves us way too thin.  We only got 5 points and 2 rebounds from Sandvik, Lamendola, Beaumont and Meister in 18 minutes.  And I will add that Lexi has delivered far better than what I expected filling in for Sydney.

Couple of post-game stories

Bargesser was fantastic last night. She's a true defensive stopper, and maybe our best and most creative passer.

Currentlt we have a thin bench, but when we need to cut the rotation down in March? Bargesser and Meister as our perimeter and post off the bench is a really, really good situation.

NET-wise --- I think the B1G will have 7 teams, no less, in the tourney.

Iowa, Indiana, OSU, MSU, PSU, NEB, Maryland... and a solid chance Minny gets in. So that would be 8 teams.

Not likely on Minny. They are fading fast and lost their best player for the rest of the season. Michigan would be the eighth team with a chance but their problem is they can literally beat or lose to anyone on a given night.

Illinois is higher than UM in the NET. Minnesota is still Top 40.

What a post-game quote from CTM.   And it's true.

Teri Moren on her team's ability to step up and make clutch shots: "They had some big cajones."

Technically (physically) I'm not sure that's really true... :)

A couple quotes from Moren, reflecting so well on her coaching and man would like to hear these kind of statements from an IU Men's coach:

“There are going to be a lot of games where it's going to come down to gut-check moments,” Moren said. “Keep showing maturity, keep sharing the ball, keep understanding where the ball needs to go, and then keep shooting it and taking those big shots with a ton of confidence.”

and

“We were shooting well, but I think we only got two stops in the first quarter," said IU head coach Teri Moren. "We could never seal a hole and then went into half down by 10 and they knew they needed to be so much better defensively,”

While the NET is a tool, it is not an absolute and Minny's NET will continue to fade late in season as they move further from .500 in conference and fall down the standings. Illinois' record is not likely to be good enough despite good metrics. Michigan's might be if they can establish consistency which I would not count on. Big Ten might be a seven bid league but no more than eight.

ESPN bracketology has seven big ten teams in — Michigan in Maryland first team out.
