They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

undeservedly way too much.  It’s like the guy walks on water.  Honestly, what has he done lately to deserve this royal treatment?  He played over 40 years ago, majority of the fans probably didn’t even know who he was before he started coaching here.  Mike Woodson who?

They claim he is some sort of legend who deserves special treatment. Based on what scoring a bunch of points?So did calbert but calbert made a final four and woodson didnt .Fife actually made a championship game and also won a big ten title. But Woodson treated him like garbage. So basically certain former players can be treated like trash while others walk on water. Whether you like fife or not he went further than Woodson ever did in the tourney. There is no way they would even allow Woodson to be discarded like fife was. Woodson isn't a good person imo.

This is in the coaching candidate thread, but Trilly said Dolson is working to repair AAU/HS coach relationships in Indiana.  The Woody White Knights can spare me their narrative about how we should support Woody now that he was fired.  Not only was he a bad coach that divided the fanbase with his pathetic narratives, he also damaged IUBB recruiting.  What a guy!  And I bet he does more damage on his way out too.  

Brian Evans made a great point. The athletic department just laid off 25 people but Woodson wants his 8 million still even though he claims he is retiring. So how are you owed 8 million when you are leaving on your own? He loves iu so much maybe he should spare the money to rehire those people.

I like Fife, he was done dirty by Woodson and Woodson isn’t even a good human being.  Actually, he’s an untrustworthy snake in grass that shouldn’t have been allowed to finish out the season.  By letting him do that, he could cause more damage to the program

Some claim to not like fife but the fact is all we know is the leaked stuff from Woodson. As Evans said at some point fife will share his side of things and it sounds like it could be eye opening. I am sure it's way different than Woodson's fife hit piece

When he went to the "you come to Mike Woodson, Mike Woodson doesn't come to you" statement in his opening presser, it pretty much told us what we were getting.  I was hoping he would "get us over the hump" and back good tournament runs consistently.  "I wish I knew" on many of his responses kills me too.  Anywho, on to better times ..!!

Fife was on JMV the day after Brian Evans was and he was on his way up to East Lansing to watch the IU/MSU game and he shared some things but I didn’t hear it because I got in the middle of the interview.

I know JMV loves fife and thinks he totally got screwed by the king. So I am sure they have talked off radio about it.

Likes Scott and respects him doesn’t think Scott got to pic the head coach.  Ripped the nba and coaches asking what the heck do  they do all day (implying Woody didn’t much coaching).   Players don’t respect the staff.  Blames the problems in the staff and that he wouldn’t get rid of any of the players because he thinks if they actually were coached they would be good.   He is retired from coaching and this last stint and his experience will keep him from coaching but did leave the door open when JmV pushed.   Hates the people that are in the sport because of NIL.  Crappy people and it’s turning good people bad but it’s the way college basketball is now.   Said a few weeks ago he knew on day 2 that he knew his situation wasn’t going to work out.  Paraphrasing and leaving out some stuff  but that’s what i remember

Like Scott and respects him doesn’t think Scott got to pic the head coach.  Ripped the nba and coaches asking what the heck do  they do all day (implying Woody didn’t much coaching).   Players don’t respect the staff.  Blames the problems in the staff and that he wouldn’t get rid of any of the players because he thinks if they actually were coached they would be good.   He is retired from coaching and this last stint and his experience will keep him from coaching but did leave the door open when JmV pushed.   Hates the people that are in the sport because of NIL.  Crappy people and it’s turning good people bad but it’s the way college basketball is now.   Said a few weeks ago he knew on day 2 that he knew his situation wasn’t going to work out.  Paraphrasing and leaving out some stuff  but that’s what i remember

I find this interesting given he was one one the loudest voices who said you have to hire an IU guy. Be careful what you wish for Joe.

Thanks, good stuff.  I think I only heard about the NIL and not coaching because of what happened at IU.  It sounded like that experience left a bad taste in his mouth pertaining to coaching.
