Yes; and that's the way it should be. He's an all-time program great and alum that came back to the school. Giving him a mutually agreed upon soft exit is absolutely appropriate for all sides.

.......besides his anger mismanagement and proclivity towards punching other adults.

Trying to catch up with some stats on McKenney.  Back on 12/18, Orchard Lake lost to University of Detroit Jesuit 60-55.  As it turns out, that's the only loss OL has had this season and has a record of 13-1.  This was a rough and tumble game but for the most part the officiating was consistent throughout the game.  McKenney drew 3 fouls in the 4th Q and fouled out with just over a minute to play.  Given how the game had been officiated, IMO his last 2 fouls were kinda tacky.    He finished with 20p;  5r;  2a;  0s;  1b;  4t.   9-12 FG;  1-1 on 3s;  1-1 FT.

He is not a jump shooter.  Loves to drive to the basket and doesn't shy from contact.  I scored him with 8-12 2-pt shots and 7  of the 8 were drives to the basket.  He was 1-1 on 3s.  I was impressed with his body control but then I'm easily impressed so if anyone else has been able to watch him play please share your thoughts.

12/21  89-47 win  over Flint Beecher.   23p;  8r;  4a;  1s;  0b;  1t                10-15 FG;  1-2 on 3s;  2-2 FT

1/5    54-40 win over De LaSalle Collegiate.  20p;  9r;  1a;  1s;  0b;  2t       7-14 FG;  2-4 on 3s;  4-5 FT

1/9   70-56 win over Central Catholic.  25p;  9r;  1a;  0s;  0b;  0t                 9-14 FG;  2-5 on 3s;  5-5 FT

1/19  76-68 win over U of D Jesuit.     28p;  14r;  5a;  1s;  0b;  5t              11-20 FG;  1-5 on 3s;  5-7 FT

This kid can play.  He's strong and can take it to the rim or create jump shots off his own dribble.  And from his rebound numbers, he's really active on the boards.

Schumann update on McKenney’s recruitment. Sounds like IU’s still in here, though I assume if Mullins were to pull the trigger here that would put an end to this one.

I think Michigan keeps him in-state with a darkhorse being Georgetown. Walsh is the primary on his recruitment. He would be great in the Conwell role in a Josh Schertz offense. If any two players should be a package deal it should be Acuff and McKenney.

Rivals doing a countdown of it's 5-star rated players.

At No. 14 is SG Trey McKenney ( @mckenneytrey1 ) “The Michigan-based McKenney brings some positional versatility to the table and creates mismatches on the premier. He is coming off a strong showing at USA Basketball U18 Training Camp last month and is taking positive steps as a ball handler and initiator. McKenney does a lot of things relatively, so the fact that there are few gaping holes in his game is his greatest strength. He is considering colleges such as Kentucky, Miami, Indiana, Rutgers, Michigan State, Georgetown, TCU, Ohio State and others.”
