Sports reference runs a 'box score plus or minus' stat -- one for offense, one for defense, and then a composite.  If you are interested in the detail, they are here.

Indiana's box plus/minus for this year -- offensive plus minus first, defensive, and then total.  (you want positive numbers, the higher the better):

TJD:  O  +7.7, D +4.8, total +12.4

Race:  O:  +4.5, D + 4.1, total +8.6

Galloway:  O:  +0.5, D +3.5, total +4.0

Geronimo:  O:  +0.9, D: +2.8, total +3.6

Johnson:  O:  +0.4, D:  +2.9, total +3.3

Leal:  O: -0.8, D: +4.1, total +3.3

Kopp:  O: +0.9, D: +2.1, total +3.1

Stewart:  O: +0.3, D: +2.4, total +2.7

Phin:  O: -2.1, D: +3.0, total +0.9

Bates:  O:  -2.0, D: +1.3, total -0.7

Durr:  O: -4.6, D: +2.0, total -2.6

Lander:  O: -5.0, D: +1.9, total -3.1

Mostly matches the eye test. Phins O vs D makes things hard. His Defense is really strong. His O is a belly full of stink. Bates has the potential to be so much better.

His Defense isn’t that strong - middle of the pack and Offense is bench worthy

First, among other things this highlights Geronimo's positive impact, he needs to play more - and he did against Nebraska, and capitalized (21 min, 10 pts, 4-4 and 2-2 from stripe, 8 boards, 1 assist, steal and block, 1 TO). The only +/- here that I don't think is really reflective is Bates. Think his +/- will grow with his minutes as he continues his frosh growth, he's an excellent two-way player.
