Looks like Wilson is sailing off into  the sunset.

Too bad. Hell of a talent.

In a sloppy season opener HIES defeated St. Pius X 63-60.  Wilson 19p; 12r; 8a; 1s; 7b; 6t

Listed as 6'10" and 205 lbs and he can get pushed around inside.   Hard to tell from a computer screen if his frame is going to be one that can add additional pounds.  Several of his TOs were where he tried to thread the needle with cross court passes.  Couple were on drives he started at the 3-point line and had the ball taken away from him on the drive.  He does handle the ball in the open court but not so well in traffic.

Caleb Wilson is as talented a prospect as you can find. The no. 5 ranked prospect in 2025 is long, smooth and skilled. His footwork and touch with his passing is special. His frequent usage rate operating from the elbow was impressive and efficient. His pursuit on the offensive glass is next level. Next steps for him is living lower in his stance for longer stretches. Being a consistent FT shooter. He fished with 25 & 16 in a loss to Wheeler (GA).

Rivals doing a countdown of it's 5-star rated players.

At No. 4 is Caleb Wilson ( @CalebWilson2025). “He routinely impacts games on the boards and handles the ball better than most players of his size. Defensively, his upside is unlimited, as his long wingspan and athleticism make him an ultra-versatile weapon. Schools such as Indiana, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Duke are heavily involved with Wilson. ”

I prefer Wilson over Tiller. There's no worries about his motor. He can defend on the perimeter.

The talent is obvious, but Wilson spooks me a little for a couple of tangible reasons and 1 intangible one: 1) He doesn't play through physicality. When he gets banged around he floats to the perimeter every time. That's not an issue in a lot systems, but I don't love it in Woody's or in this conference. 2) He really wants to be facilitator, which is an admirable quality, but he's not particularly good at it. I like him way better as a finisher. 3) His Mom is, uh, interesting. She's not Gibbs-Lawhorn's Mom, who's absolutely a problem, but when I was following Wilson a little more closely when he was a Soph, she went off in pretty over-the-top fashion on Twitter on a couple of fairly innocuous and incredibly mild posts about the kid. That obviously doesn't reflect directly on him, but I'd have to get comfortable with that one if I was the staff.
