 A well-deserved honor for Mackenzie.

Sophomore forward Mackenzie Holmes earned the final Big Ten Player of the Week honor for her performances against Iowa and Purdue.
 
This is the first Big Ten Player of the Week award for Holmes, who was previously named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times last season. She's also the first Hoosier to earn player of the week honors this season.
 
The Gorham, Maine native helped No. 10 Indiana to a pair of wins by averaging 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, shooting 82.1 percent from the floor, 2.5 blocks, 2.5 assist and 1.0 steals per game. Against Iowa, Holmes went 11-for-13 from the floor as she tied a team-high 22 points and recorded her fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 11 rebounds. She also added two blocks and an assist in 35 minutes of work.
 
Against Purdue, Holmes helped the Hoosiers secure the Barn Burner trophy for the fifth-straight season as she had a game-high 26 points on 12-for-15 shooting. She narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds, set a career-high four assists and had three blocks to go along with two steals against the Boilermakers.

We will most likely get MSU in first Big Ten Tourney game which is ideal.

They are a fringe tournament team but not talented enough to beat the best teams in conference. They are basically a poor man's Iowa as they have beaten everyone they are supposed to and can hang tough with the best teams, but ultimately don't have enough to get over the top.  

Spartans are just good enough to provide a slight resume boost, but bad enough to most likely not be able to compete with us for full 40 minutes. This is in contrast to Nebraska who is completely bipolar and has the talent to hang with every good team and beaten several, but not the discipline to beat the bad teams and as a result are nowhere near NCAA Tournament.
