RaceToTheTop Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Two missed free throws, but IU offensive board and lay in. Up 8, two minutes left. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 3, 2021 Author Posted March 3, 2021 Great win today 89-80 and we have an IU trifecta. Berger, Holmes and Patberg each with 22 pts. Overcame some early torrid shooting by Iowa and trailed by 5 at the half. These women have fight and don't quit. Wish we could say the same about our men's team. Points: Berger 22 (8-17); Holmes 22 (11-13); Patberg 22 (6-11); C-H 13; Gulbe 7; Warthen 3 and that was our complete scoring. Rebounds: Holmes 11; Gulbe 9; Berger 6; Patberg and C-H 4 each. Assists: Patberg 8 Shooting: IU 57% FG / 31% on 3s / 74% FT Iowa 52% FG / 57% on 3s / 83% FT We outrebounded Iowa 38-21. Caitlin Clark finished with 32 for Iowa and she's going to be a pain in the butt another 3 years. Season finale next Saturday in Bloomington vs. PUke. HoosierAloha, LockdownD and GloryDays 3 Quote
Aaron Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Iowa gave it their best but IU is just to good right now. The Big 3 of Patberg, Holmes and Berger showed up big like champions as they always do with 22 points each. The game was over as soon as they got Clark fouled out late and Iowa went to pieces after. May of won anyways but it would of been tougher. Iowa always has a terrific player who is good from the get go. This is just their 'rebuilding year' but as soon as Clark is a sophomore next year, she will be the next great Iowa player and they will once again challenge for Big Ten Title. Iowa always has a player who is elite and leads them to glory and Clark is the next in a long line after Gustafson, Logic, Printy and Alexander. This was not our ideal game in an up and down track meet but we out Iowaed Iowa anyways in their high scoring track meet style. Good practice for NCAA Tourney as Hawkeyes are about as good as the team we will face in second round of NCAA Tournament and we need close games to prepare. This locks us up for second place in Big Ten Tourney and all comes down to Maryland Michigan tomorrow at noon on ESPN2. Wolverines win we have inside track to share of Big Ten Title. Otherwise we will be runner up which either way will be highest finish since 83 championship. Class of '66 Old Fart, thebigweave and LockdownD 3 Quote
Todd41 Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Interesting stat on Czinano... Shooting vs. Indiana in two games 15 - 36 - 41.7% Shooting vs everyone else 164 - 232 - 70.6% Holmes/Gulbe/Brown doing their job down low really swung both games in our favor. Not sure if any team can stop Clark. HoosierAloha 1 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 The thing I really like about this team is everyone seems to know their role and plays to that role. C-H gets a bit out of control at times but they have purpose the majority of the game. Another interesting piece is how they communicate, they're connected. It'll be great to watch them as they move through the BTT and NCAAT. Great win ladies! Quote

GloryDays Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 These girls are so much fun to watch.Even when they get down you never really feel they can't come back. The Clark girl for Iowa is crazy good and it was a nice break for us when she fouled out. Patburg really played well in the fourth when we needed her to. Aaron Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Forget about the Big Ten Title:(. Maryland is absolutely blitzing Michigan by 20 at the half. Maryland's best which they have brought is better than everyone. However, Michigan has brought their worst possible and looks nothing like the Wolverine team we have seen all year and playing scared. When Maryland is playing their best, they should be 5-10 points better against the top of the conference like they were against IU or NW. The fact they are beating up Michigan is a two sided affair where Wolverines didn't come to play. Either way, as usual Maryland will win the Big Ten Title and IU will settle for 2nd. Part of me knew this was coming when we lost to them early in year and to have any chance to catch them we needed to win out. That one bad night against OSU at Assembly Call will make us brides made rather than bride. To be the Bridesmaid though is a million times better than being in the outhouse as we were for so many years. Quote
Aaron Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Same story in second half. IU will settle for 2nd (The chances of Maryland losing to PSU is zero). Quote
