What Does IU Need to Do to Get in the NCAAs?

Recommended Posts

Hello? Anybody still here?

I'll preface this with the fact that I know it will not happen, but out of pure curiosity, are we thinking the only path to the tourney is now to win the BTT? Ironically, that would be the only way we end up above .500 now. Every game we play will be a quad 1 game. Would winning 2 more (one of those being Illinois) get us in at 14-15 w/ a 4-13 quad 1 record? Probably not. How about 3 more wins, finishing 15-15? I'd say that would have us sweating on selection sunday. I can't even believe it got to this point. I still can't believe Indiana has never won the BTT.

Other random thought....have we ever gone 0-3 against Rutgers in a season?

No chance at getting in with a under .500 record

making the championship and losing will get IU in the conversation and probably finish first 4 out again.  I think it would be interesting to see what the committee did with a 15-15 IU team with a top 3 SOS and 6 Q1 wins and a 5-2 record against Q2 teams.    Ironically I’ve said getting to 2 games over .500 would probably get them in and for that to happen now they would be in anyway as the auto bid for winning the tournament

Pretty tall order for a team that can't hit the broadside of a barn and can't string consistent efforts from half to half let alone several games in a row. This would also be our longest winning streak this season by a couple games against extremely good competition. I say our chances are near zero

How we feeling, Mailman?

Personally, I have us in my “Last 50 I’d Never Allow In, Under Any Circumstance” group, but still need to look at some MEAC team sheets.

Off the teams to consider list.   Committee will vote again tonight on at-large teams to consider and that pool will shrink after tonight.   IU should of went on a COVID pause when they were 12-9

Sweating it out on NIT Selection Sunday to see if we turn down a 2nd bid in the last decade is how I like to live as a fan.

Final from Indianpolis:  Covid 19, IU 13.
