Aaron Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Better start to second half forcing a PSU timeout. Now put the game away. Scary moment as Holmes went down in screaming pain, but appeared to just take a knee to her kneecap from a PSU player and walked off and should be fine. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 10, 2021 Author Posted February 10, 2021 Intensity and focus is significantly higher this half. We lead 53-43 midway through the quarter. HoosierAloha and mamasa 2 Quote
Aaron Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Holmes back in as expected. Thank god it was a false alarm. Turned away for a second second so when I saw her screaming I thought she had broken something and our season was flashing before our eyes. Then I saw the replay and breathed a sigh of relief and could tell she would be fine. Lead up to double digits. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 10, 2021 Author Posted February 10, 2021 End of 3 and we lead 65-51. A really strong quarter defensively as we held PSU to 3-12 FG in the quarter. Points: Gulbe 15; Holmes 14; Berger 13; Patberg 11; C-H 9 Reb: Berger 9; Patberg 4; Holmes 4 Assists: Berger 6; C-H 5 HoosierAloha 1 Quote
Aaron Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Much better quarter that looked like how I expected game to go from start. Better D to as we outscored them 26-11. One more quick run to open fourth quarter should end this. Quote
Aaron Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 We made our run to end it! IU by 23 halfway through fourth. Exactly the second half you needed to put away a far inferior PSU team. Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote
Aaron Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Berger just got her third triple double of season! No one else in Women's College Basketball has more than 1. Quote
Aaron Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 We have a ref down with an injury. Accidentally tripped up by Warthen as she hits a three to grow lead to 28 with about 1 min. left Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 10, 2021 Author Posted February 10, 2021 Amazing Grace with her 3rd triple double of the season. WOW, just WOW! Dominating second half and our Hoosiers take a 90-65 win. Points: Holmes 25; Berger 17; Patberg 16; Gulbe 15; C-H 9 Rebounds: Berger 11; Patberg 8; Holmes 7; Gulbe 4 Assists: Berger 10; C-H 5 IU: 51% FG 40% on 3s PSU: 40% FG 46% on 3s We held PSU to 7-26 FG in the second half C-H stat line in place of Penn: 9 pts; 2 reb; 5 asst; 4 stl; 4 TO. Only shot 3-12 FG and had 4 TO but still made an overall solid contribution. HoosierAloha, LIHoosier and mamasa 3 Quote
Aaron Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Ballgame. Final is 90-65. Held PSU to 25 points in second half after 40 in first half. Outscored them 25-14 in final quarter. Even if we had not scored in 4th quarter game would of gone to OT tied at 65. Also the Grace Berger Triple Double was awesome. Second half shows how great this team is when they put 100% effort no matter how bad PSU is. Next game against an even worse Illinois team Sunday at 3pm on BTN+ (subscription required). Aaron Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Uh OSU lost to Wisconsin so we are in sole control of 2nd place now as Buckeyes took their third loss in Big Ten play just now. That is by far worst loss of yr for ANYONE in Big Ten and maybe in country as Wisconsin is worst team in conference. Wiscy had not come remotely close to beating a top team prior to tonight. Only games Badgers were even in before tonight was against fellow bottom feeders when they barely beat Illinois and almost beat Purdue and Minny. They were blown out by everyone else at top of conference and several teams at bottom. Not sure what the problem was for Buckeyes tonight, but good for IU and we can out them away in Columbus in a couple weeks in what should be our toughest game left. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Heckuva finish. These ladies are fun to watch win or lose. I love the way they play. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Class of '66 Old Fart and mjhoosier 2 Quote
