Coronavirus and Its Impact

Recommended Posts

I am very curious who the federal stockpiles are for if not the states.

The states are getting the supplies right? I think the idea was that the supplies go where needed so as a hot spot pops up then the supplies go there. If that spot levels off and we need to move those supplies to another spot then they move. It seems a simple concept to me.

“The notion of the federal stockpile was it’s supposed to be our stockpile,”

A federal response to an emergency is meant to help who if not a state?  DC maybe?  Puerto Rico?  We sure as hell don’t help Puerto Rico.  1 reason they will probably vote for statehood in November.

If it’s not the federal government responsibility to assist in a disaster why was Bush Roasted for Katrina.  Why was Obama bashed for not stepping in with Flint.

So because Kushner made an odd comment you ignore all the help the federal government has given the states?

"There's no time for" hyper-partisan politicking right now, Cuomo added. "The president is doing the right thing in offering to step up with New York, and I appreciate it."

Mayor Bill de Blasio gave a special thanks Friday to President Trump and the commander-in-chief’s senior adviser and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, for making good on a promise to get 200,000 N95 masks to city hospitals amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Gavin Newsom: I'd be lying to say Trump has not been responsive to coronavirus

I’m not ignoring anything. Curious what he meant by that comment though.

That comment would seem to indicate he really doesn’t seem to understand his role

Ok maybe. I really doubt he is stockpiling stuff for any reason other than to help states out. But maybe he has some nefarious reason or is just clueless. I am really not worried about Kushner. If he is in over his head it seems others on the task force, many that have served under democrats, are doing a great job and will fill those gaps.

I’m not so sure of that. Our federal response is basically non existent. We have 50 different states with 50 different solutions.

They are dipping into federal stockpiles but without Rhyme or reason some states are getting more stuff than they asked for. Others are getting broken equipment.

The hospital ships apparently are restricting who is allowed on.

PPE is scarce yet they haven’t barred foreign sales or been proactive in mandating increased production.

Which leaves the states on their own. Some have handled this well. California and Washington. Others not so much Louisiana and Florida.

New York probably an average response so far. They should have shut down sooner.

Oh please.  It's a fake controversy.  It's pretty simple what he "meant."  The Feds back up the states.  They have 50 states to worry about.  They are there to supplement the state's response.  But they have to be careful what they let out of the stockpile and when.  They can't give it all too the squeaky wheel.  They have an obligation to all of us to make sure they are allocating in judiciously and verifying the state's purported need.  No individual state gets to dictate where stuff is sent.

Bill Gates is setting up factories to manufacture 7 leading vaccine candidates before we know which is best & safest; we can test the vaccines in parallel, and then throw away all but the factory for the best vaccine. May save many months. Just extraordinary.

Perhaps he should have said it correctly. Or clarified it or actually done it. Idk crazy stuff like that.

Someone qualified or....has a grasp of the English language...should have explained it correctly.  The President and his lackey son-in-law have have two chances now to explain and have still failed.  The coordination states have received from a national government which downplayed it from the start and was even suggesting last week that the country would be up and operating by April 12th.  There is nothing fake about how incompetent the response has been.

Correct on some places getting more than they need and some getting less and there not being rhyme nor reason to it.  The hospital my sister works at is a small one in a rural community.  They received 250 test kits and basically said all hospitals were receiving the same number regardless of where they were located and what their capacity was.

I suggest you do your research about all the other powers that be with regard to "downplaying" the virus.  Pretty much everyone downplayed it.

March freaking 24th Trump said the U.S. "opened up, raring to go" by April 12th.  Show me the 'everyone' that was making those kind of statements then.

It’s called hope. He then adjusted and pushed social distancing guidelines to April 30th.

It's called recklessness and willful ignorance.  If you want to forget his 'you can't let the cure be worse than the disease' when we weren't even two weeks into states starting isolation, more luck to you.  When Fauci says that he can't just 'run up and knock the microphone' out of Trump's hands as he spreads misinformation, you need to be worried.

Only thing I am worried about is people stupidity. Stay home don't go to walmart because you are bored. Don't bring your kids to walmart. I work at wal-mart and all day everyday it's people coming in just to buy one or two things and they are bringing their kids in and then I will see them again the next day doing the same thing. We are essentially just killing each other and not caring
