A question for those of you in the know who follow the metrics.  How is Michigan State ranked 23 in the Net and 19th in KenPom?  They are just 4-8 in quad 1 games.  We are ranked 94th in net and we are 3-8 in quad 1 games and both schools are 5-4 in quad 2.  I just don't get why Michigan St is so high?

Quick answer: Kenpom is an efficiency rating. Wins don’t matter. NET has an efficiency component.

MSU was much more dominant in their wins and more competitive in their losses, as adjusted for strength of schedule.

The old RPI system has them at 58.  The truth is somewhere in between NET and RPI.

I want to know how or why Villanova was listed as a Bubble Watch team by CBS. @Uspshoosier need your expertise here.

Do you think they should be solidly in or do you think they should not be in the discussion?

Nova is in the discussion because top 20 SOS.   2 Q1a wins away from home (North Carolina win on a neutral and Creighton on the road is huge) 2 other Q1b wins away from home.  6-2 in Q2.     Black eye is the 3 Q3 losses.   If they would have won today I would have them in however with a loss they are trending close to the cut line for me.

UNC in the tournament would be a dangerous team to play.

They were always a dangerous team.  They were the top 2 seed (5th overall best resume) during the committees top 16 reveal and they haven’t lost since then

What about Virginia? Do they need to do anything in the conf tourney?

Question for you bracketologists.  Is ISU safely in?  There net ranking was 26 before their loss today.  Drake was 47, so I wouldn't think ISU would fall too far.  The CBS crew talked like they were probably not going to make the field. Seems like they would be in with that net.

Not close to being safely in.    They are going to have a long wait this next week.  If they do get in they will probably be in the first 4.   Metrics are really good just don’t have any high end wins that mediocre power 5 teams can get.   It could go either way.

So if all other things stayed exactly the same, but we had closed out a W against Kansas, does that change anything? 5-7 Q1, 10 Q1+Q2 wins….metrics still too bad to put us on the right side?

Still too bad to be on the right side.   They would if needed to get one against Nebraska or Northwestern on top of that Kansas win to be considered
