Illinois wrapped up its non-conference slate in a loss to Missouri on Dec. 21 to move to 7-1 in State Farm Center this season. They are led by senior forward Alex Wittinger's 17.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Brandi Beasley adds 10.1 points per outing and a team-high 6.0 assist per game. As a team, the Illini are averaging 75.9 points per game while leading the league with 5.5 blocks per game.

NOTES

• Indiana wrapped up non-conference play by going 2-1 at the Puerto Rico Classic Dec. 19-21. The Hoosiers picked up wins over Loyola Marymount and South Dakota.
• The 11-1 non-conference mark is the best start for the Hoosiers under fifth year head coach Teri Moren and best since 2013-14.
• IU is starting Big Ten play on the road for the third time in four seasons. In league openers, the Hoosiers hold a 15-21 overall record.
• Redshirt junior Ali Patberg continues to lead the Hoosiers in scoring with 17.7 points per game. She is currently in the midst of an eight-game double figure scoring streak which includes two back-to-back 20-plus point scoring games with 21 points against Grambling State and 25 versus South Dakota. She is also leading the team with 4.9 assists per ballgame.
• On the glass, redshirt junior forward Brenna Wise paces Indiana with 7.2 boards per contest. In addition, Wise is shooting 51 percent from the floor, 47.5 percent from the 3-point line and a Big Ten leading 90.9 percent from the free throw line.
• For the fourth-straight week, Indiana is receiving votes in both the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Polls.

IU up 2 in OT with 35 seconds left. Illini killed them in the 3rd quarter and IU came back to force OT.

Hated to miss this- had to take the family to see Aquaman (believe me, much rather see this game). Very glad to pull out a win on the road in B1G!!

That looked like a race in futility but IU pulled it out. This Illinois team went winless in Big Ten play last year and is by far the worst team in the conference. IU made this much harder than needed and barely executed down stretch after coming back from an 11 pt deficit missing multiple easy layups. Fortunately Illini were worse turning the ball over and also missing layups. This looked like an Illinois team that didn't know how to win which is what a long losing streak does. IU looked similar but did make 2 huge plays in OT which was barely enough. One was a Royster 3 point play to go up 4 with about a min left. Than leading by 2 with about 10 sec left Yeaney tracked down a long rebound after a miss on a near shot clock violation and made 1 of 2 ft's  to go up 3. We fouled Illinois on the next possession trying to get a 3 to tie. Fortunately the toe was on line so Illini got 2 shots instead of 3 and made the first before intentionally missing the second but no one got the ball and the last .6 ran out.

This game really was a performance ineptitude all over the place from the teams to the refs who called over 40 fouls to the announcers who didn't know you could take the ball half court after a timeout late in the women's game to calling Yaney 'Yan-e' every time instead of "Yay-ney". I have announced a lot in my life and always make sure to check with each team on the pronunciation of every player before the game but these guys must have forgot and messed up as a result. 

Playing like this won't get you to many wins but we pulled out a close one tonight which is something we struggled with last year at times so take your W don't apologize, be happy and improve.

Great to start out 1-0 in conference. An overtime road win is impressive.

Hoping our play improves once we settle back into a normal schedule. We had 10 days off, then had to play 3 games in 3 days in front of no one, then another week off before a road game tonight.
