Class of '66 Old Fart Posted Wednesday at 07:48 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:48 PM Good story on our new pitching coach who hopefully can straighten out some of the woes we've experienced the past several seasons with our pitchers. https://www.on3.com/teams/indiana-hoosiers/news/how-matt-myers-infectious-positivity-is-reshaping-indiana-baseballs-pitching-staff/ mamasa 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Hoosiers lose their season opener 9-4. Tony Neubeck opened and pitched 4 innings of 1-hit ball. Wheels fell off after he was replaced by Reagan Rivera who gave up 7 hits and 9 runs in 1.1 innings and at the end of the 6th we trailed 9-2. We picked up 2 in the 9th but too little too late. We managed just 5 hits; Ayden Crouse had 2. Jake Hanley had both of our RBIs. Doubleheader tomorrow. Quote
Aaron Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I watched some of the game and the pitching was actually quite good for the most part. Neubeck's performance was encouraging as lead pitcher and that's the toughest opponent he will see all yr. Rivera was bad in the 5th inning, but the big six run sixth inning happened partly because of shoddy defense that started with an error at SS and a lost ball in the sun that landed on a popup to LF. If neither of those happen its a clean inning. Either way though to much wildness at least today to be relied on in high leverage spots if his hit batters and wild pitches continue. NC is by far the best team IU will see all year and a national championship contender. Outside of the keystone cops defense in the 6th inning, pretty much went toe to toe with them. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago After today, I hereby decree our games will go no longer than 4 innings. Tied at 1-1 through 4. UNC scores 3 in its 5th and 6 more in the 6th. Final score 12-2 in a run-shortened game. Jackson Bergman pitched the first 4 and was charged with 3 runs. 3 relievers combined to give up another 9 runs over the remaining 3 inning. Kinda sounds like last year? For our part, we managed just 4 hits. Final game of the weekend projected to start around 3:45 and hopefully we can salvage at least 1 for the first series of the new season. Quote
