I do not watch any of the combat arts events, but there are many that consider them a wonderful sport .

Boxing is very much an old mans sport much like baseball. It is an acquired taste. I love baseball but I know many people that can't stand the pace. Boxing is very much the same. MMA is different cause a fight can end at any minute in a variety of ways. Plus I thought last night was hilarious. Boxing "purists" truly thought Conor wouldn't lay a glove on him at any point let alone win rounds. In MMA? Floyd doesn't last a minute with Mac and very possibly gets knocked out tbh. I used to love boxing and there are good fights here and there. I don't think it's dying like some suggest. But MMA per fight is more entertaining. Imo

Last night was the first boxing match I've ever watched. I have nothing to compare it to of course, but it wasn't the farce that a lot of commentators seemed to think it was going to be, imo.  

Plus, the official scorers are the main reason I can't stand boxing at times. Last night two officials gave every round to Mayweather. If that went to a decision I would have loved to have heard that explanation. Mayweather landed less than 15 shots in the first two rounds combined. Everybody and their brother knew how the fight would go. They didn't need to do what they did. People can see what was happening.

That's crazy. I can't think of any justification for giving Floyd every round. He didn't do anything in the first few! I saw this on another message board and thought it was interesting. 

"A guy with zero pro boxing fights and a relatively limited amount of training landed 111 punches in 9.5 rounds on the most talented defensive fighter in history.

For perspective, nine other Mayweather opponents landed less than 100 punches in 12 rounds -- including Pacquiao, who only landed 81.

Conor has absolutely nothing to be ashamed about."

The only reason Conor landed a few shots was because Floyd wanted to make the fight a little more interesting. Floyd is the best counter puncher of his generation and I'm sure he could have finished the fight in the first 5 rounds if he really wanted to. He just wanted to give people a show.

Floyd won. Nobody expected different. But the haters before and during this fight are funny. Just can't give a man props for going in there against the GOAT and winning a few rounds. A show? Tyson used to put on a show when he annihilated competition in one, two, or three rounds. Not when it was interesting.

You think and MMA fighter was better than all these other Hall of Famers that came before him? Better than De La Hoya, Mosley, Pacquiao, Canelo, Márquez?

Performing better in one fight doesn’t make him a better boxer but against Floyd? Connor was unquestionable better than those guys. That really can’t be argued.

I see your point but mayweather was also quite a bit younger in those fights. Even the best fighters ever lose to father time. I don't believe conor is better than any of those fighters. I just think he caught mayweather after age caught up with him. I think a really good fighter in the same class would have beat Floyd that night. That said, I thought conor did a whole lot better than I expected him to
