Welcome Coach Miller

Glass knows for sure that this hire will define his tenure at IU. I lost a little faith in him over his handling of the whole NIT home game ordeal, but I'm pretty convinced he totally understands what this hire means to his future.

Given the remarks from his presser, I have to believe he already has the successor lined up, or at least has enough info that he has a pretty good idea who legitimate candidates are. IMO, he doesn't make many of those comments without some idea he isn't settling for his 7th or 8th choice.

I think I'll take his post with a grain of salt, a shot of tequila and a little bit of lime.  He really didn't say anything that we haven't already heard from other 'sources'.

Wasn't intended as a criticism.  Just saw that he'd had a very limited number of tweets and my reaction was that he was just piggybacking on what others have already said.  I'm just a cranky old man so just ignore me.

This is why I question whether or not we're getting an NBA guy.  They're busy for another couple of months minimum; and we can't wait that long.   Billy Donovan's 51.   Maybe past his prime a bit.  Had a hard time beating Butler....    There is one perfect hire, and I think he'll be busy until late May or early June; and he's probably not coming.   An announcement soon means a college guy.  I might ask Stevens "if not you, who would you hire?"

unlikely that Donovan/OKC will be "busy" for another couple of months minimum--if they lose in the 1st round, they'll be done around April 24th-27th.

IMO people over-estimate the "timing/logistics" problems that would come with hiring a current NBA coach, especially one who may well lose in the 1st round of the playoffs. On the other hand, it's easy to under-estimate the attractions of not having to recruit, having summers off, not baby-sitting players, not dealing with parents, etc., etc.

in the end, I think it boils down to whether Donovan wants to keep coaching in the NBA even without Harden, Durant and (soon) Westbrook, or if he might have an itch to return to college coaching "somewhere," in which case IU this year is probably more attractive than any job that might open next year (except possibly Louisville, if Pitino decides to retire).
