Just wanted to buy him a book.

That is fine.  You can.  We just prefer not to have a thread for every time someone has a new idea.  If you are going to buy him a book can I suggest the basic fundamentals of basketball?

I suggest a book written by Branch McCracken: Indiana Basketball. Crean could learn a lot.

Take a second and look at UK. They won the national championship and the next year they lost 1st round in the NIT. Now, they are looking to make a run in the tournament. When you lose key players (for us: Hulls, Zeller, Oladipo, and Watford), you go into a rebuilding stage. This rebuild wasn't as drastic as when Crean was first hired, but that's what it is. You can't expect a national championship one year after losing all of those players as well as having the second least experienced team in the B1G. Crean made mistakes this year, but let's be honest: who doesn't? There are coaches all over the nation that make mistakes year in and year out. Firing Crean would only hurt the program at this point in time. If there are consecutive seasons without production then find another guy that can run the show, but for now, let Crean do his best to rebuild.

I enjoyed the Branch McCracken camps when I was a kid.  Obviously he wasn't around, but they stayed true to what he taught.

When you win a championship you get a longer leash, and at least UK made the NIT.  We shouldn't be "rebuilding" at this point in Crean's tenure, and didn't even make a tournament field of 100.  Sadly every problem this team has can and should be placed squarely on Crean's shoulders.

The rebuild is over. Caliparis system is fraud as well. All his teams that made nice runs including the title team had senior leadership on them. Seniors leave you get results like last year and this year. No excuse why this team shouldn't have been a bubble team as the worst possible outcome.

There is no reason with the talent we had last year that we don't have banner 6 hanging. Creans subbing this year, can't coach against a zone defense, and not applying a better defense has shown that he's not fit for IU basketball. But to his defense he's a hell of a recruiter and brought us back but no improvement throughout this year or next I bet he will be gone.

You could have added they went pretty far the year before as well.

Until Crean is fired, our basketball seasons are going to resemble a badly scratched LP. He "plays" a coach, not so unlike Gene Hackman played a coach in the movie "Hoosiers". In fact, at this point, I'd take Gene Hackman's acting over Tom Crean's coaching.

I'd settle for pre-rehab Shooter.

Four of Creans six seasons have ended with no post season play.

Really hope I don't have to explain why that is such a skewed stat given the situation Crean walked into. There wasn't a coach out there who was going to take that roster to post season play

He is riding the coat tales of Victor, and Cody...and No leadership, end a season with 16 turns into 22 points. Speaks volumes...also he has overlooked major player violations of team rules and none of them respect him. Noah will go pro.

Do you have any proof of this, or just more rumors? Cause that stuff is annoying when people act like rumors should be considered true.
