Who has served? When did you serve? What did you do? Why did you join? Deployments, TDYs, training and such?

 

I joined the USAF looking for a way out of Southern Indiana. My parents told me they wouldn't pay for college after putting all my sisters through college. I joined to see the world and be forced to mature. I served 7 years from 2000-2007 as an EOD tech before being medically retired. No, The Hurt Locker is not an accurate representation of EOD.

 

Thanks to everyone who has served. Thanks to all the family members of those who have served.

Only did ROTC. Officers at Grissom told me it was a waste of time as VN was winding down. My Father was a WW2 and Korea vet.

I did an JPAC Mission northwest of Da Nang. Da Nang was actually a really nice place. We stayed there for a few weeks while building our base camp.

I spent most of my tour on Green Beret outpost, quite near the Cambodian border. I was attached TDY.Then near Hue.

I spent most of my tour on Green Beret outpost, quite near the Cambodian border. I was attached TDY.Then near Hue.

 

We had a few other teams up in Hue but didn't make it up there. Our loading LZ was right next to the Lao border. It was pretty neat being able to walk down the road into Laos.

I'm apart of a veterans court team, that helps veterans who fall into legal trouble. After dealing with these people and hearing their stories, all I can tell you guys is thank you for your service

I served 20 years in the US Navy, joining right after high school. 1987-2007. I have been a Hoosier fan all my life.
