  1. Yeah, this has no chance of getting through Congress. The President appoints the commissioner of a new college sports association? That won't become political at all. These colleges don't have to fire these coaches and pay that amount of buyouts, but they do it when they know the price. It isn't like the actual university is actually paying the buyout anyway which this Congressman should know.
  2. Snickers and then Reese's followed by Skittles are the answers. If you choose any other candy, I have to question your ability to choose candy.
  3. Still rooting for Toronto just because of Evansville's Donnie Baseball on the coaching staff of the Blue Jays, but it is pretty cool to see local guys coming up big.
  4. How sweet would it be to get this guy from under the noses of pUKe and UL?
  5. If I were the incoming coach, I would want the first crack at trying to recruit any players on the team and send the ones I don't want packing.
  6. I can understand why. It would disrupt the current team they are on, and they wouldn't be able to leave and join the other team till the season is over anyway. They are still in school, so in theory they need to finish the semester first. It would be awesome to see some of those PSU and LSU players head to Bloomington though this Spring.
  7. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/live-blog/live-updates-nba-chauncey-billups-terry-rozier-arrested-gambling-rcna239312 This is an update thread for the "scandal"
  8. Rozier pulled himself out of a game in late 2023 for an "injury", and he told his childhood best friend before the game who sold that information to someone for $100k. Out of the 35 arrested, 3 were in both the poker and the sports betting scheme. I totally believe that stuff like this happens more than we know. "Jones allegedly sold information on a prominent player's injury to sports bettors while he was an unofficial assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2023. The indictment said that Jones was either a teammate or coach of the player, unnamed, while Jones played on the Cavaliers and coached for the Lakers. That relationship allowed him access to "non-public information" about that player's medical status on Feb. 9, 2023, when the Lakers were playing the Milwaukee Bucks. Jones allegedly texted his co-conspirator that the player would be out that night and to "Get a big bet on Milwaukee tonight before the information is out!" according to the indictment. LeBron James, power forward for the Lakers, was out that night due to a sore left ankle and foot, according to a game recap."
  9. A lot of details are coming out. "A detention memo said the games were rigged through sophisticated cheating technology, such as altered card shuffling machines, hidden cameras in poker chip trays, special sunglasses and X-ray equipment built into the table to read the cards of unsuspecting players." I guess one night in Vegas with an "altered card shuffling machine", he won so many hands that he was told to lose a couple to not draw suspicion that he was cheating. There are 4 mob families tied to it with 35 people arrested. Rozier and Billups have been put on leave.
  10. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/46695228/sources-terry-rozier-arrested-part-gambling-inquiry Not the first time for Rozier but Billups was tied to an illegal operation with the Mob?
  11. Looks like Chauncey Billups, the coach of the Trailblazers, also got busted.
  12. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/46689420/ncaa-allows-athletes-bet-pro-sports-starting-nov-1 I'm not sure how I feel about this. They can bet on professional sports, but they still cannot bet or share competition information on college sports with bettors. It's a slippery slope.
  13. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/46680426/michigan-state-coach-tom-izzo-sounds-ncaa-louisville-signs-former-g-league-player This article mentions a second player who was with the NBA Academy Africa was granted last month to play for Santa Clara. It is turning into a slippery slope.
  14. Dream job not Football related - Pro Golfer. I wonder how good he is.
  15. He's right, and he knows that he has the influence and the cache to speak out when a lot of other coaches will not. I have been saying for a couple of years now that the NCAA needs to get their sh!t straightened out or these power leagues will start their own governing body.
  16. I know they all see $$$, but if the equity firms aren't happy with the return on investments, they would more than likely want changes made.
  17. I guess he has 4 years of eligibility? That really is odd if they are going to start taking them after they have been in the G League for a few years.
  18. They kinda look like a pair of New Balance I now use to mow the grass in from time to time.
  19. It would suck to lose one or both coordinators, but Cig prides himself on evaluating talent. He mentioned it in the McAfee interview yesterday which is probably his greatest strength as a coach. He knows exactly what he is looking for and isn't shy about telling people how good he is at it.
  20. Coaches at the P4 level have to love job openings because this is his second raise in 11 months. It looks like he has tripled his salary since he was hired on. He doesn't hate that, and he has deserved it.
  21. The starts at 3:30 which would put them being open at 10:30 which would leave some time for tail gating. It is supposed to rain here in Evansville on Saturday afternoon and a slight chance of showers in Bloomington, so do be careful in that grass lot if it does rain.
  22. Thanks, getting scanned a couple of times a year isn't fun or cheap. LOL
  23. Both places are Death Valley for QBs, and Cleveland has 2 rookie QBs right now. The Browns have an awesome defense, but that offense needs something.
