  1. Just based on these general principals of the 41, it is everything we weren't for the last 4 years... 4-Out 1-In Motion General Rules 1. Keep Great Spacing – This is the most important rule of the offense. Perimeter players should always be about 18 feet away from each other. 2. Cut With a Purpose on Every Cut – Players must look like they’re going to receive the basketball on every cut towards the hoop. This involves showing target hands and calling for the basketball. 3. Never Pass and Stand – After a perimeter player makes a pass, they should never stay in the same place. What action they make will depend on what progression you’re up to and the actions you choose to use. 4. Watch the Cutters! – I’m not a fan of players holding the basketball for too long, but since this offense relies so much on cutters and off-ball screens, it’s important that the player with the basketball see the cutters and is ready to make the pass if it’s open. 5. Always Catch Looking to Shoot – Players must keep the defense honest throughout the entire possession. Always catch the basketball ready to shoot if the defense isn’t quick enough. 6. No Excess Dribbling – Don’t allow players to catch and put the basketball on the floor without thinking. Save the dribble. Only dribble when penetrating to the rim, using an on-ball screen, or improving a passing angle. I don't think we'll be screaming at the TVs this fall about a scorer standing in the corner waiting for the ball to "maybe" come his way, or a guard dribbling the logo off the ball at the top of the key.
  2. Scoring: TJD Stewart Kopp Assists: XJ Phin Rebounds: TJD Race Durr Blocks: TJD Race Minutes: TJD Stewart Kopp Steals: Phin XJ 3-Pt makes: Stewart Kopp
  3. I listened to Bate's interview with the hysterics guys, and he's a 5-star kid personality wise, maturity wise, and has a really great family.
  4. I remember all the times I saw Bobby on the sidelines waving his hands back and forth, which now makes sense...he was telling them to "exchange" to keep the defense occupied. IF...Woody can get these kids to move consistently, we start hitting free throws, and increase our 3 pt shooting 2-3% pts, (which should be accomplished easily) we could be very tough to beat. It also means that the guys need to have more stamina than they did last year if they install all this motion. More stamina conditioning, a little less build muscle exercises IMO.
  5. If you're not familiar with the 4 out, 1 in offense (with motion I might add) you really need to watch Coach Tony Adragna's breakdown of it. It is superb. https://youtu.be/3wBcc5_Ni5s After watching this, I'm PUMPED !!
  6. I think Trey could improve the most on offense, as I think the coaches will "fix" his shot. Hunter could be the most improved on defense if he works on it, and is coachable.
  7. I'm having a hard time thinking we will "make room" for K Brooks. The kid was a reserve last year on a less than marginal KY squad. He only shoots 21% from 3. I think Galloway shot better than that, or at least close to it. And I'd much rather have Galloway's hustle, BBall IQ, and passion for IU than Brooks. (which if I remember correctly was 0 when he chose KY) I just don't see it. My 2¢.
  8. OK, I'll play... TJD's % goes down a little due to more outside shots. Hopefully a low sample size from 3 though. Thompson stays about the same for both, unless the staff and him works hard on his 3 pt shot. No comment on Hunter...as I don't know if he'll even be here at the start of the season. Kopp FG% goes up to close to 50%. 3 pt % to high 30's. Probably a low sample size for Galloway. Leal will get more time than many think. I believe he'll be 50% & 40%. Stewart stays about the same, but more point production overall. XJ goes to 50% FG, stays mid 30's on 3 pt. Rob goes to 40% and 35% but more point production Lander goes 40/40 assuming they fix his shot. Hope I'm low on everybody! Go Hoosiers!!
  9. I'm skeptical of 20 wins, not because it can't happen, I just don't think we come out of the gate as dominant as we'll be later in the season. So...I'm thinking we're in the finals in the BTT, Top 4-5 in the conf, 5 or higher seed in the tourney. After that it's all gravy.
  10. I must have missed what is Bates hometown in Indiana. Because it's a well known fact that Woody can't recruit outside of the state according to the "experts" in the media... (that was sarcasm for those who missed it)
  11. I may be proven wrong (won't be the first time), but I'm not counting Leal out yet. He started slow, and that gave him a seat on the bench, and since Archie was so stubborn, he never got a chance to play decent minutes. But I watched his intensity and skills grow over the course of the season, and I'm not counting him out as a last option at guard behind all the "names". We'll see.
  12. It has to be a lie. Coach Woody can't recruit college kids.... (lol)
  13. I think Leal is much better than Archie thought he was. I specifically watched him in every game he played, and he displayed more grit and hustle than anybody except Galloway. With his severely limited minutes last year, there's good reason that he didn't develop enough in many people's eyes. Personally, I would have played him over Durham and Hunter. He played better defense than both of those guys IMO, and if Archie hadn't put handcuffs on him, he would have shot a lot more. Hopefully Woody will see the talent he has and encourage it.
  14. I understand it will be a while before we see any meaningful content, I just hope when they do get organized and get into a routine, someone will address the communications to the fans, and this obviously is one of the major sources. I also hope they upgrade it to a more consistent schedule and have content that is more than whose birthday it is, as was the case under Archie.
  15. I know we don't have a DOBO yet, but I sure hope that the new DOBO gives some direction and access to player development on the IUBB twitter feed. Compared to the IU Football twitter feed the BBall feed is in a "post if you put a gun to my head" mode. I'm really disappointed in it. Don't expect to see any clips from practice, or scrimmage per se, but it would be nice to see the coaches working with individual players for development purposes, and the "Family" side of the team that Woody is trying to instill. I realize I'm probably very early in posting this, but I'm interested if any of you share the same viewpoint, or have other suggestions for communicating with fans, who are so eagerly awaiting some more player updates (non-recruiting).
  16. If he does, he's the first one from IU other than Archie...(imo)
  17. You're right. But the real benefactors will be the guys that catch on to the new system the quickest. I'm also wondering if Leal & Galloway might redshirt this year.
  18. When DD interviewed Lewis on his radio show, Lewis did say that he was a "pretty popular guy" lately. So I'd imagine he's getting several offers coming in, from various places. Great for him! There is no doubt he loves IU and always will, but from his own personal career choices, he has to consider going elsewhere if it's the best for him and his family.
  19. I remember back in Larry Bird's playing days, he told a media guy that he actually tied is right hand behind is back all summer, and only played left handed to develop it. Not sure it was true, but paints an interesting picture, and he sure could operate with his left hand. Hope Trace concentrates on developing his off hand as well. I think Woody will help him a lot !
  20. Yeah you're right, but in the player pic, we didn't get the "full frontal" view...then, even I could have figured it out
  21. The guy with his back to us (no sleeves) looks like Armaan to me, but hell it could be Katy Perry for all I know...
  22. I would guess Mike Roberts since he's staying with him.
  23. I was not saying that they aren't fans. I just can't understand their mindset at this particular point in time. We all have our expectations as fans, I just don't understand how anyone that is paying a modicum of attention to what has gone down in the past week, can have such a negative, or at least a mediocre view of what to expect from this team in 2021-22.
  24. While I understand the POV that "he has to win" in order to validate himself, I don't agree that he's guilty of not being able to coach college ball before he's even had time to eat a full meal, much less practice. Obviously he's watched a lot of film on all the players, or he would not have tried to recruit them back into the fold. If he didn't think he could win with this group, he would have made major changes. Any coach would. I dumb-founded on how any IU fan could possibly think that this team won't perform light-years better than last year's team with the right coaching, motivation, and player improvement teaching. I also think that Woody will name TJD the captain of this team. No more "popular vote" election of captain. And by early indications, TJD is more than ready to take on that role.
  25. While I'm sure Dane will be a great addition, and I'm truly glad he's back home, my heart is still pulling for Mike Lewis. Not exactly sure why, but every fiber of me says He's the guy.
