Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
DWB replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
How about we start with upgrading our mental aspects on winning before we add more $$ to the physical facilities? Unless you can change the size and placement of the hoop, facilities are not a top priority in my book. Many successful entities do a great job without having Taj-Mahal facilities. -

Someone else posted earlier that it was @ 10. Probably should check out both times to make sure you don't miss it. -

For any of you that "might" want to ignore a poster, any poster, just hold your cursor over their name, and at the bottom of the pop up window is the Ignore option. I think I'll try it out... -

Winning is everything...no doubt. But I was looking at it from a slightly different angle. Should CMW try to retain guys in the transfer portal? Maybe they need to sell him, (not him sell them) by showing him, how they CAN play. I'm not sure we want to keep the entire roster in check. There probably are a few guys that need to be gone. (not saying who. That's for CMW to decide) If the transfer market is half what everyone believes it will be, it might make sense to revamp the roster asap. Just a thought. -

Personally, I think he's already won most of them over already. It's just a few of you nay-sayers on here that are the hold outs. -

I think Woodson will be a great, (and tough) coach for TJD. Who better to relate what todya's NBA is really like (other than his father, who's been out of the NBA for quite a while) -

Ryan Phillips tweet: Just got texts from several Big Ten contacts. Most are lambasting the Woodson hire. One summed it up pretty well: “So a 63 yr old who’s never coached in college or recruited is the guy to rebuild that program? They could have done so much better. Indiana gonna Indiana.” #iubb ---------------------------------------------------------- Anybody who believes this guy is connected, give me a call, I've got some primo swamp land that is a "sure thing" for high end development. Arrogant SOB -

Let me tell you something son...from an old fart that's older than Beilein, I'm still pretty damn sharp mentally. And along with age comes wisdom. Something you appear to be a little short on at this point in your life. Woodson is our coach. Either get on the train, or get the hell out of the way. IU fans are not fair weather fans. We're always IU fans. -
If I'm a coach, a good solid coach, and I had a chance to go to IU, I could not think of a better time. We've had a dumpster fire for 4 years. We've been in decline for 20 years (with a couple of good years thrown in for kicks) Fan base is foaming at the mouth to win again, and fan expectations are far lower now, than 10 yrs ago Hard to imagine it could get much worse. Transfer portal is a real opportunity to fix the roster (at least partially) quickly Great chance to have a better year in 21-22 than 20-21. and then build from there. Would you face a lot of scrutiny under the fan base microscope? Sure. But that will happen no matter what. If you start winning, you'll be a hero.

You're absolutely right. My problem is I'm still trying to figure out what they ARE known for. Can't come up with anything.

Well that should pi$$ a bunch of guys off based on recent comments. But that's OK, we all have our own viewpoints, and that's what makes the world go 'round.

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
DWB replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You guys just can't resist teasing everyone can you? LOL You know that many on this board will take that as gospel, and start the great Stevens conspiracy again. We just came down from the "high" and the depression on this topic a day or so ago, and here you are fanning the flames with a blow torch again ! -

MilehiIU and Colonial Crestor both died earlier this year. Snowling followed shortly thereafter. Hasn't been a good year for those of us that were on HSN. I left HSN when it went down to come here, and for a number of reasons this is where I'm going to stay until you guys ask me to leave. Sorry Mods for getting off track, but I thought some of the old timers on this board would want to know. -
Doesn't mean we shouldn't "put in an offer". Kind of like buying a house. Multiple offers are good (for the recipient). You could very well be right. I don't have any inside info to confirm or debate that. But if I was SD, I'd at least reach out to him.

But they did beat Illinois. In fact, they buried Illinois...and oh by the way, a #1 seed. And they ran them off the court. If I remember correctly a bunch of posters (not you) liked the way ILL played fast all season. Loyola was 24-4 or something like that. Only lost 4 all season. We lost 4 in 10 days...some to inferior teams. I don't care who you are, if you're 24-4 in D1 ball, you're worth looking at. IMO Loyola plays a style of BBall that nost IU fans would enjoy, IF Moser can instill it in this team. He might need to do a roster gut and hit the transfer market to get the right guys for his style. But I sure like their style of play a helluva lot more than what we've seen for the past 4 years, and maybe the last 20 yrs. This board lit up during the ULC vs ILL game. I know, cause I was on it. Virtually everyone was impressed with their play.

so it would appear the fan base is being played... Question is by who? Athletic Dept, Media, ourselves?

Did I miss something or is Minny missing a HC as well?

At this rate, we may not have a team to put on the floor next year. Might have a bunch of mis-fits, but doesn't look like a team. Don't blame them for protecting their own interests, but man, this is depressing. I could see if some of the guys at the end of the bench started transferring, but the starters makes it tough on us fans.
