Not if 2-4 are in the Sweet 16 IMO

Parker Stewart enters transfer portal. Great, just what we needed, another good shooter leaving. First Armaan, now Parker. Can't blame them with the unknown ahead, but I wonder if Dolson's talk to the team had any effect at all. Not sure when the portal closes from a time line, but I would think there would be ample time to wait for a new coach before deciding. Granted, none have left yet (except maybe Durham) but it is disappointing that our "better" players are choosing to transfer. I know it's not a definite, but you gotta believe there will be many offers for these guys.

Chris...I do appreciate your bringing info to the board. I really do. But at this point with the Stevens fiasco, and everybody going bats__t over the rumor du jour, unless you can tell me that you got this info from Dolson, or the interviewees themselves, you can understand my skepticism. And I probably should not have said "we don't know who Dolson has talked to". That was probably (or is) an exaggeration on my part. A couple of you guys are connected far better than 99.9% of us. But at this point, color me skeptical until the presser with Dolson.

So we're up to 551 pages and nobody has any effing idea not just who the coach will be, but we don't even know who Dolson is talking to ! Damn, we're good ! (kudos to Scott Dolson for keeping it confidential)
-
Guys, you're really working yourselves up into a lather over all the speculation from any and all sources. Let's not forget Dolson has already surpassed many of our expectations by firing Archie this year, not next. If he had waited a year, I believe we would be in a far worse position in replacing him than many of you perceive that we're in now. Personally, I want him to do his job. On his timetable, because he is the one with all the info. Not us, not bloggers, not reporters (there are no journalists anymore), not "insiders". The speculation may be fun for some of you, but until he proves otherwise, I think Dolson knows exactly what he's doing.

TTech offense is underwhelming. Defense is very good. -

With all due respect to HF2017 we are not going from this dumpster fire to elite over night. It will take time, probably longer than any of us old guys want, but the game has evolved with much better talent in the last 10-15 years. Question is, who can build that elite culture, and expectations of winning each and every night out? IMO it will take a special kind of personality to do so, along with great coaching skills. I can guarantee you whoever plays ULC next will be saying "Oh S**t" before (and probably after the game). We'll see. -

ULC 25-4 record this year is more than one game. And they beat a respectable (not great) GA Tech team in the 1st round. And far less talent than we have (well...maybe) Crean's record wasn't all that great coming in either, yet there are some on here pining for him... -

As was Brad Stevens -
They are 25-4 this year before the tourney. Their conf is not the B1G, but 25-4 is a good record anywhere. Gonzaga is in a sub standard conf too (compared to B1G, but nobody is trashing them. Not saying you are trashing them, but all of us have watched good ball and bad ball. Loyola plays good ball.
-
Appears there's not a whole lot wrong with his recruiting right now. Taking a B1G #1 seed to the woodshed in the 1st half. Game's not over, but it's going to be closer than many of us thought I bet.
-
I just hope the new contract for the next coach has some incentives built into it, rather than a huge guaranteed salary, as it's been in the past. Example: $1-3 mil a year salary. +$250k for Big Ten championship, +$250k for Sweet 16, $500k for FF, and $1M for NCC
-
And I suspect he doesn't have a bunch of 5* recruits on his recruiting list. Probably doesn't have a bunch of 4's either. Sure knows how to motivate kids though.

Can you imagine if we played with Loyola's defense and intensity night in and night out? Even with our lousy shooting we would have been tough to beat. -

Not at all from my viewpoint. There are ALWAYS options. Stevens option didn't work. I think a lot of posters on here had all of their eggs in the Stevens basket. I didn't. Sure I'd take him gladly if he came, but it's not the end of the world, or IU basketball, because he reneged (supposedly). I will always want a coach, and players that want to be at IU, not just play at IU. -

Depends on who the interim coach is I suppose. No doubt it would have an impact, but as many have said here, I'd rather have players that want to come to IU, than ones we have to coddle their egos, and pamper them. With proper coaching I think Leal, Geronimo, Galloway, and Lander will be REALLY good. -

Nothing says we can't have an "interim" coach for a while, even a year. Not saying we should, but if plan B & C don't work out, then it might make sense to wait another year. -

I'm looking at this from a different angle... IF, we negotiated in good faith (I assume so) and gave Stevens everything he wanted and IF, he said "that's good. I'm in" (or something similar to I accept) and then IF, Boston matches are beats the offer a little, and Stevens reneges on his acceptance... Then Stevens is the ONLY one that loses credibility IMO. I rec'd an offer from a business, told them it was good, and I was in, and when I told my boss I was leaving, they promised me a promotion and more money to stay. I said "where has that been before now?" (I left) Stevens may not have "played" IU, but it seems apparent that his word doesn't mean much...at least to me.
