I understand where you're coming from, but Carr is a scouter of talent/fit, it's what he did for the P's and bringing in the right players from the portal -- not just picking guys ranked well in the portal (like Woodson did, regardless of fit) is a type of scouting. It's how their games relate to what staff wants to run, how they compliment each other, how their styles fit. But yes the work isn't done (imo) let's see how their complete roster pans out.

No, but it might not be who we want to come. The current roster, as constructed, would be worse than last season, IMO. Not the talent, but the glaring holes. Going into next season with 3 unused scholarships and no depth at PG or C means the staff is utterly incompetent, like keystone cops level of idiocy. I seriously doubt that is the case and I expect a couple more additions.

I love Dan. Got to talk to him on a couple occasions and even got to play some pickup games with him when I was younger. My uncle, Louie Dampier is really good friends with Dan. They played together with the Colonels back in the ABA.

Agree. Roster isn’t complete, still need to add some depth of forwards (and imo on ball guard) but it’s a better and deeper roster already. Should make the tourney 

I don't know man, I see next year's roster compared to last year's....we have 8-10 players who might potentially contribute...we had 4 1/2 last season. We won't have to watch 2-4 dudes play 38+ mins a night, then Peter out late in the season. 
 
We had 3 players who contributed 0 last season. 0. Enright and Bailey would be the 11th and 12th guys on the current roster, and they started a ton last season. The holes aren't nearly as glaring as they were last year in my opinion.

Lettuce also doesn't know that Winker was for a walk on position.

Yep, I'm sure that's coming sometime in the near future. There has to be a stopping point somewhere. Can you imagine if the NBA or NFL didn't have a cap. All small market teams wouldn't survive.

A lot of Michai White mentions in there. That kid’s awesome. Just this tiny physically under-developed kid who you wouldn’t notice in the layup line ever and then in games he’s the most competitive bada$$ on the floor making play after play. Impossible not to love him. 

Nah. I very much believe we will field a full 13 man roster and don't see much reason to think otherwise yet.
Not a ton of portal activity in general right now. Schools are either saving for NBA draft drop outs or evaluating slim pickings in the portal or going to Europe because they're generally more affordable and polished. Those Euro guys won't be available until midway through the summer or so for the most part.
It doesn't seem like any news is on the horizon but given timelines I think that's fine for now. I'll be concerned a bit if we aren't hearing anything come mid June.

I agree that'd be a nice way to round out the roster.
Probably splitting hairs a bit but I don't really view the portal haul as a scouting win per se. Talent acquisition win, definitely. But each of the 6 portal guys so far come from P5 schools and we paid good money to land them, so to me, doesn't necessarily show scouting chops.
IF they can find a diamond in the rough or help a couple decent players become solid players, that would show real scouting and development chops and drastically improve the outlook for next year / building on next year's team without as much roster turnover. The ratings are nice but their keep will be earned or not on the floor. Looking forward to year 1 part 2 lol 

I'd say the staff's scouting and addition of the top 3 portal class (so far) along with the 2026 recruiting class is part of their earning their keep (or not), but agree it's pretty clear they're looking for depth with supporting bench players who may outperform their rankings/perceived portal value. Do hope they add another on-ball player to go with another big or versatile wing, very interested to see how the portal class ultimately shapes up.

20-25 schools over $20M?  I’m not buying that Sean.  Bit of exaggeration there imo.
Maybe 10 are $20M+.
That said, #10-20 still have a lot of money.
IU needs to start developing and retaining players to help offset the increase in player costs.
