This cracks me up. ... I'm not married, but have been in a handful of relationships over the years. It reminds me of a conversation I had with one of my girlfriends ... Her: Where do you want to go to eat? Me: I don't care. You pick a place. Her: I want you to pick. I want you to make a decision. Why do I always have to pick? Me: Because anything is fine with me, but if I pick, you'll complain. Her: That's not true. You make a decision. Me: OK, let's get Chinese. Her: But I don't want Chinese ...

Of all the things about which to criticize Archie -- and there are plenty -- we're gonna fuss about gum? Really? That's like Crean with the clapping. To me, it's just very silly and trite.

IUWBB vs PUke - 1/9/20 @ 7:00
LamarCheeks replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
I really hope this ends being as big or a bigger point spread than the Illinois game. I absolutely can't stand all Toiletmaker teams, but women's basketball might just be No. 1 on my list. Let's win big, ladies! -

This is the photo to which people could be referring. It apparently came late in the game after a big TJD bucket. As far as what it means or doesn't mean, judge for yourselves ... -

Archie needs to channel his inner Norman Dale once he gets into that locker room ... "Basketball is a voluntary activity. Any of you feel you don't want to be on this team, feel free to leave right now." -

Most probably are too young to remember this ... "I began by telling the president that there was a cancer growing on the presidency and that if the cancer was not removed the president himself would be killed by it." -- John Dean, 1973 (I think it's time for Archie to try to cure the cancer). -

Every time this team takes a step forward, it takes THREE steps back. I don't get it. We were up by 11, ready to put our foot on the gas and pull away -- and now we're losing. -

The inevitable drought has come. And there's no rain in sight ... -
The reason we're in such a pickle? We didn't hire Steve Pikiell. Rutgers is 3-1 in the B1G right now -- 12-3 overall. Fire Archie and throw a bunch of money at him. That's the answer. We'll be back among the elite in no time!!! Not sure, however, if he claps or chews gum. Those, obviously, are detriments.

Man, when Grace Waggoner came in at the end, I had to do a double-take. ... I wondered if somehow Tyra Buss got another year of eligibility. They could be twins! Even wear the same number ... -

I found the interview with Justin very interesting. He was named IU's male athletic scholar of the month. Guess he's close to making the Dean's List. He was wearing glasses -- looked very studious. I'm paraphrasing here ... Fisch: Do you like to play video games? Justin: No. That's not my thing. Pretty much everybody except Al and I play 'em. Fisch: What do you like to do? Justin: Nothing. We're pretty busy during the week, so I just like to take a step back. Fisch: Do you have a girfriend yet? Justin: Nah. Not yet. Seems like a really quiet and introspective kid. Maybe even a bit shy ... And seems to be very serious about his education.

Looking forward to watching this. Maybe everybody will play great, we'll win by 25-plus points and everybody can stop fussing about the men's team for a couple hours. Who am I trying to kid? We won't stop the fussing for even 5 minutes! ... -
Very interesting hire ...

When I see all the "fire Archie" stuff, my first question always is -- If we do that, whom do we hire? ... The answer always seems to be: Throw a bunch of money at Chris Beard. Or throw a bunch of money at Brad Stevens. Or throw a bunch of money at ... But why would those people come here? If Chris Beard can reach a title game and make $5M a year at Texas Tech, why leave for Bloomington? If Brad Stevens or Billy Donovan can make $4M or $5M a year and not have to chase down and coddle recruits, why come here? Mark Few and Tony Bennett allegedly already said no. A year or so ago, somebody posted a lengthy podcast of an interview with a CBB insider (can't remember his name, but supposedly, he knows his stuff). He said that realistically, there were three candidates for the job after Crean was let go: Mack, Holtmann and Archie. And Mack and Holtmann weren't interested. Like everyone else, I'm frustrated with the team's play, but is firing the coach two-plus years into his tenure the answer? Then, we start all over again.

Maybe the PUs will fire Versyp and hire Moren. We're due $10 M in that case. ... LOL!

Offensive Possession Chart: Maryland
LamarCheeks replied to topher9595's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Our offense seems to be two components: Scoring from right near the bucket (putbacks, layups, 6-foot shots) or taking 3-point shots (which nearly always miss). I only recall a couple times yesterday us making a mid-range jumper: Devonte made one from just beyond the FT line and I think I remember Justin making a 10- to 12-footer. There might have been more, but I don't remember. I stopped watching with about 8 minutes left because I was so disgusted. Do they not work at all on shooting off the dribble? Or catching and shooting? I've lost count of the number of times Al has driven to the hoop and literally just fling it up there and hope it goes in. He's not even shooting the ball. He might as well be closing his eyes. Can't he drive hard to the bucket, hit the brakes from 10 to 15 feet away and stop and pop? And Rob looked really tentative yesterday. He's good at getting to the bucket, but not always good at finishing because of his size. But yesterday, he didn't even do that. Why not -- like I said with Al -- drive hard, stop about 8 or 10 feet away and shoot a short jumper. Not only do we suck from the 3-point line; we can't even hit a 15- or 20- footer. And I don't know if it's because of a lack of confidence, but we're really not even looking to shoot any. Heck, if I were coaching against us, I'd just start the five biggest guys and pack in a tight zone. You take TJD and Brunk away and since we can't make anything more than a layup, we might not hit 30 points for the game. -
Our bad shooters continue to dominate our shooting
LamarCheeks replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The title of this thread is "Our bad shooters continue to dominate our shooting" The problem is that we don't have any good shooters. If our bad shooters didn't shoot, nobody ever would. Maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing ... LOL! -
BTW, FSU is laying the wood to U of 6 at the Dum! Center. We poleaxed FSU. Maybe we're not that bad ...
-
All I know is this ... We should NEVER get beaten that bad by another B1G team. NEVER. And I'm not convinced Maryland is that good. What disappoints me about today is with about seven or eight minutes to go, these guys quit. I hate to say that, but they did. There was no effort, no heart, no emotion. I can't figure if they don't like Archie -- and that's being reflected in attitude and effort -- or it's just a laggard bunch. Either way, today was bad. Really bad. I didn't think anything could get worse than our performance against OSU in the tourney last year. An NCAA bid was there for the taking and we didn't show up -- until there were about three minutes left. Man, today was awful.

I gotta channel my inner Jim Mora here. A while back, I was wondering if we'd make the NCAAs this season. Now -- honestly -- I'm wondering if we'll win another game.
