DeBoer seems like a good dude and I appreciate what he did in his one season, but I wonder if it wouldn't just be best to part ways now? He's gonna be half-IU and half-Fresno State from here till the bowl is over. No offense to him, but I think I'd rather have someone who's 100 percent all in to IU. ... A few years back, Kiffin wanted to stay at Bama for their playoff run after taking the FAU gig. After a while, Saban could see it wasn't working and cut him loose. I can't help but wonder if that wouldn't be the wisest course of action for us, too? ... That way, DeBoer can get on with the next phase of his career -- and we can have someone fully committed to the task at hand.

Amazing that Iowa has had two head coaches in the past 40 years. We've had nine in that same time. PU has had 10.

Am at the airport in Norfolk. Go to stand to buy a soda. Guy sees my IU hat and says that's his favorite team. I think he's being friendly, so I say: "Yep. 10-1, but there's a lot of work to do." He says: "The problem is, we got no consistent outside shooter. With the way the game is played these days, you gotta be able to hit those 3-pointers. We can't do that." I guess he knew more about IU hoops than I thought!

I actually know about Liberty -- I live in Virginia. I was just saying that I never thought I'd see the day in which Liberty is considered better than IU (more in an ironic sense). ... Why is everybody so quick to try to prove (or try to prove) everybody wrong -- or prove they "know" more than someone else? G-damn!

Are you talking about the Duke Final Four game -- when we were not only playing the Devils, but the refs? ... If so, maybe you're thinking of Jamal Meeks? After Leary made all those 3s, we still had a chance to tie, but Meeks fired our final salvo -- and missed.

Downing spent years in the athletic department and was a great Hoosier. But he's 69. I'm guessing if there were a time for him to be considered for this, it has passed. (Also, I heard a lengthy podcast interview of him and I think he was sorta miffed he didn't get the job years ago -- maybe when Ralph Floyd passed? I can't remember for sure).

Everyone seems worried that McRobbie will be hiring the new AD. For what it's worth, I believe it was McRobbie who hired Glass.

There's gotta be somebody on this team who can turn himself into a good shooter. As a freshman and sophomore, Oladipo couldn't throw the ball into the ocean. When he came back for his junior season, he was a pretty dadgum good shooter. I'm guessing he busted his A$$ during the offseason. It can be done.

Oh, how I long for the days of a Matt Roth or a Jordan Hulls (when healthy) or a Nick Zeisloft or even a Yogi Ferrell (the upperclassman). We still don't have that guy who can consistently knock down shots from distance. 5 for 25 tonight -- that's downright embarrassing. We turn three of those 20 misses into makes and we don't need OT. They made 12. We made 5. That's how you end up in OT with a mediocre team.

Al, Al, Al, Al -- you gotta either let him go or foul him hard enough that he doesn't make a bucket. Can't have a three-point play. That's fundamental hoops!
