Another case of a lack of discipline. Dumb, dumb football. -

To me, that was just another case of this team lacking discipline and smarts. The interception was great, but you have to have the discipline and intelligence to realize that you're 8 yards deep in the end zone. Take a knee and take the ball on the 20. That's just not smart football! -

Guess CTA has been vetted by FSU. Still think the chances of this are less than 5 percent -- but stranger things have happened ... https://footballscoop.com/news/update-at-florida-state/?fbclid=IwAR0OBvZMXzjwCHM6yO4gWDLZCdx1uV-eyBQlj4upEMtcmlIfU2lr1Asz1yE -
OK. You proved me wrong. We don't need 3-point shooting. Thanks for the lesson.

Yes, we do. We are 103rd in the nation in 3-point shooting percentage and 293rd in 3-pointers made per game. We are making 5.6 3-pointers a game. That ain't gonna cut it against top-notch competition.

Tevin bulls it over from the 2. 1 carry, 1 TD. A good percentage so far!

Yeah. I shoulda clarified my comments. I wasn't necessarily speaking to the style of play. I was just referencing that U.Va. could be an top 10 team and maybe even a national title contender without a ton of size -- sorta like that old Illinois team. And the Illini played at an elite level all season despite missing Gill for 14-15 games or so with a broken foot.
-
With the exception of the 5-9 guy, this could end up being like the Flyin' Illini of 1989. Their starting lineup was 6-4, 6-5, 6-5, 6-7, 6-8. That was a fun team to watch (except when Nick Anderson was hitting a 30-footer at the buzzer to beat IU).

We are hoping to avoid the injury bug next season as well. We've had more than our share this season. Injuries are not exclusive to the PUs.

I was an IU student the only time we beat OSU and Michigan in the same season -- and the last time we beat OSU. In no way did I think we'd beat both this year -- or even one of 'em -- but I thought we might be able to compete with both, since we had them at home. But we got poleaxed both times out. And that elusive win ain't gonna come next season -- we go to Columbus and Ann Arbor. I almost wish there was a way we could split that up: have one of those teams at home, one on the road each season. Because while chances are low we'll beat one in Bloomington, chances are virtually nonexistent we'll beat one on the road. Looking back on those "glory years" of the late 1980s, I'd have never guessed that would be the last time we'd beat either one of those teams. In the past 50 years or so, we've beaten OSU, PSU and Michigan a total of four times. Insane. And sad. It's still very puzzling to me how for years, we dominated the likes of Wisconsin, NW and PSU in basketball. Yet they've pretty much caught up to us, and in Bucky's case, flipped the script (I think we had 19-20 seasons or so there were we never lost to them; now we can't beat them). But we haven't done the same in football with PSU, OSU and Michigan. And our only win in the past 30 years or so against those schools came when PSU was decimated by probation because it harbored a child rapist. You would think that over a random 10-year stretch against OSU, Michigan or PSU, we'd be able to go 1-9 or 2-8 against those teams. Which is still awful. But we can't even do that. It's maddening.

He's gonna have to go back further than 2013 for the proper information -- there was no NCAA champion that season!

Dream is pretty much over for TCU. Got one first down via penalty, then threw a pick on fourth and 6.
-
TCU-Oklahoma is a wing-dinger. Frogs have the ball with 3-plus minutes to go, down four and 60 yards to go.
-
It's difficult to tell exactly what this team is. We really haven't beaten anyone, so it'd be easy to say we're a product of our easy schedule. But we had chances to get huge road wins at MSU (which has turned out to be a real dog) and PSU -- again, mistakes killed us. So it makes you think if we really perform well, we can play with the likes of Michigan, and this sh*t happens. We're just overmatched today. And outwitted.
-
Why can't this team get it through its head that when we play elite teams like PSU and Michigan, we cannot play stupid. It just cannot happen. They're bigger, faster and better, so it's almost as if we need to play perfect and have them make mistakes. If we have one or two big miscues, that's the ballgame right there.
