  1. Sorry, but there's no chance of 10 wins. A slight chance at 9 wins and a good chance at 8. IMO, the chances to win we have in our final three games ... At Penn State ... 8 percent vs. Michigan ... 33 percent at PU ... 65 percent
  2. I'm staying out of this argument. ... I initially liked Roberson over Sudfeld, so what the hell do I know?
  3. I put the chances of Tom Allen going to FSU at less than 0 percent. For those of you worried about losing Allen (I'm not in that group), unless FSU hires a Clemson coordinator (both have been mentioned high on candidate lists), I might keep an eye on the school that loses its coach to the 'Noles. (For instance, if FSU hires Mark Stoops, I wouldn't be surprised if Kentucky came calling on Allen.) As for me, I'm remaining Switzerland on Allen (neutral). I'm neither sold on him nor did I want him fired. My main beef with the hiring of Allen remains that we didn't do a search after Wilson was forced out. Regardless, I'm not opposed to giving Allen an extension and a raise -- as long as we don't go overboard as we did with Crean. As of now, I believe Allen's contract expires in three seasons. Unless a coach is failing miserably (clearly Allen is not), I think he needs to always have at least four years on his deal -- to help with recruiting. So I'm all for extending him by a year or two and giving him a nice raise. *** BTW, I thought the hiring of Allen was strange, but it pales in comparison to what Illinois did a few years ago. They canned their head coach (Beckham) for alleged mistreatment of players -- sound familiar? -- early in the season. Then with one game left, they gave the interim coach (Cubit) the full-time gig. But they gave him a two-year contract. Who the hell gives a college coach a two-year contract? And in March, they hired a new AD, who on his very first day, fired Cubit. So he was officially the full-time coach for all of one game. Very bizarre.
  4. Ironic that the season tips off one day after the birthday of a true Hoosiers legend!
  5. When the FSU boosters and fan base read that article, their reaction will be: "Who the hell is Tom Allen?" He isn't going anywhere.
  6. Seems like a chicken or egg question. Was Taggart so bad that there was no choice, or did Jimbo leave the cupboard so bare that Taggart needed more time to get things straightened out and nobody would've succeeded that soon?
  7. Funny thing is I'm a big Chicago Bears fan -- have been for 40-plus years -- and they'd be lucky to have someone the caliber of Ramsey! LOL!
  8. Back when I was in school -- 1987 -- Dave Kramme started twice because the starter (Dave Schnell) had an appendectomy. That was the only time we beat Michigan and OSU in the same season (Schnell started both those games, though). Unfortunately, one of those games in which Schnell was out, we could've won the Big Ten title. But we got poleaxed at Michigan State. It's doubtful Schnell would've made a difference in the outcome -- a 27-3 loss -- but I think it would've been more competitive. I know that's not the same, but we did win eight games that year -- and had to play a couple with our QB2.
  9. Penix didn't even play at Nebraska, so he definitely didn't get hurt there.
  10. After a week off, we'll get to go to State College and get whacked. Hopefully, we'll come out of that in decent shape health-wise, and can give Michigan a run for its money in our home finale. And hopefully draw a nice crowd for a change.
  11. I know it's probably not copacetic to pass with a 31-point lead and 3 minutes to play, but I wouldn't mind seeing Tuttle chuck up a couple -- just to see how he looks.
  12. I still think playing Ramsey at this juncture is kinda foolish -- and risky. No reason for him to be in there, especially if Penix has a serious injury and won't play for a while.
  13. I think it's time to see Tuttle -- or someone other than Ramsey. If Penix truly has a broken collarbone, we can't afford the risk of Ramsey getting hurt in garbage time.
  14. Izzo last season wouldn't give us one ounce of credit after we beat them twice. ... That still pisses me off!
  15. Dangerous play by Stallings -- could've easily been called for roughing. Gotta be smarter than that.
  16. Penix is starting to remind me of McMahon with the Bears in the mid-1980s. Was a damn good QB and the team was much better with him, but he got hurt about 3-4 times every year. Never did have a season in which he started every game.
  17. He did not catch that. Why was there no review?
  18. Apparently, Penix isn't even on the sidelines ...
  19. Did I miss something? Is Penix hurt again?
  20. Being able to stretch the field with a big-armed QB is nice, but becomes irrelevant when you keep overthrowing your receivers by 10 yards.
  21. With a little better pass, that's a big completion. The safety was late getting over.
  22. Damn ... Don't want to settle for 3 here.
