(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
LamarCheeks replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not only is he going to IU, he's at IU. And apparently, he's staying at IU! -
Just in case anybody wants to listen to the chat between Dakich and Fischer, where they discuss Archie being "handcuffed," here's the podcast of Monday's show. Fisch first comes on at about 22:30 in, but they don't get on topic until about five minutes later ... https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-dan-dakich-show/e/67061136?autoplay=true

Since we're honoring the 1980s team and Knight and Keady might attend, I've already got Archie's pregame speech ready. (I'm a 1980s movie geek and stole this from one of my favorites -- "Vision Quest.") It's short, sweet and all you really need! "Listen up a second, fellas. This is one special night. You know it, and I know it. Now let's go out there and make sure Purdue knows it."
-
Is it confirmed that Knight will be there? Or as confirmed as possible with him? ... Instead of the 1980s guys showing the current players any specific basketball moves, I'd be happy if they spoke to them about playing with pride and heart and what it means (or used to mean, I guess) to wear those candy stripe pants and that red & white uniform. And whether you play for 40 minutes or 35 or 25 or 5, bust your a$$ when you're on the floor and give everything you have. Demand that of yourself and your teammates. Kitchell, Wittman, Isiah, Woodson, Tolbert, Turner & Co. settled for nothing less and neither should the current players.

Ronnie Walker (RB) 2018 TO INDIANA!!!
LamarCheeks replied to lucel15's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Guess someone will have to change the title of this thread. He's headed out. -
After reading something on another site, I listened to Dakich's interview Monday with Fischer. Apologies if this has been discussed and I'm late to the game, but I hadn't heard this (I don't live in Indiana, so don't listen to Dakich). It really made me wonder if there isn't some meddling going on down there. And if there is, there shouldn't be. Don't know if the allusions here were to the Athletes Bill of Rights or some other type of over-involvement, but both Dakich and Fischer insinuated that Archie is being "handcuffed." I'm guessing people remain over-sensitized to the Knight era, when the coach grew too big and some things happened that probably shouldn't have, but if you hire a coach, you have to let him coach -- his way. Archie always struck me as a tough, hard-a$$, no-nonsense guy. So I'm surprised, too, that he doesn't seem to be disciplining players -- whether it's through cutting playing time or whatever. If you gotta drop the hammer, you need to be able to do so. You can do that without doing some of the types of things Knight did. Both Fisch and Dakich have been critical of Archie in the past. But in this conversation, they seemed to be in his corner. Makes me wonder just what the hell is going on there? Fisher: "I think there are guys on this team that can evolve to be better than average. But they've gotta grow up and get to a point where they understand their role and then perform in that role. Honestly, I'm not sure we see a lot of that right now. And I think Archie is doing a terrific job in some respects of getting these guys to understand what their roles are, but some of them may not like those roles." Dakich: "It wouldn't be bad if this team just shut the hell up and listened. ... Sometime, you gotta check your ego and say 'Why don't I see what this guy's actually saying before anybody talks back.' " Fisch: "You've gotta have the ability as a coach to get their attention. ... In some respects, I think Archie does his best at that. I'm just not sure he's not handcuffed in that area -- if you know what I mean." Dakich: "I do -- and it's crazy. You should never handcuff a guy at that level. I know exactly what you mean ..." Fisch also said he didn't want to get into or dive too deep into the "handcuffing" aspect of things. And later on, he added: "I think this team has the ability to be better than they are right now." And before Fischer came on, Dakich ripped Green and to some extent, Justin, for their supposed on-court exchange. ... I can't help but wonder if after this season, Archie will breathe a huge sigh of relief and feel as if the weight of the world is off his shoulders because Green will be gone. I read his background story and want to like the kid, but I just can't help but think he's a royal pain in the a$$. Interesting stuff ...

Prediction League (Game 23 - Purdue 2/8/20)
LamarCheeks replied to Str8Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So, I have to ask ... When you say "amazing halftime," is that in general terms, or is that in "General" terms -- as in a special guest to Saturday's game? Sorry, but the way that was phrased has me a tad curious. (BTW, I tend to read too much into things, so forgive my overzealousness if I did that here). -
Prediction League (Game 23 - Purdue 2/8/20)
LamarCheeks replied to Str8Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I guessed we would lose the past three games and got those right (not that I was stepping out on a limb there). But on Saturday, we get off the schneid ... Hoosiers 63 Toiletmakers 57 -
Earlier today, a story broke about a lawsuit saying he and MSU committed multiple NCAA infractions. Interesting timing ... If it were just a regular retirement/resignation, wouldn't he have done so by now? The season's been over for more than a month. ... Could it be that he's getting while the getting is good?

Women's College Basketball General Thread
LamarCheeks replied to JerryYeagley23's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
I posted this in the PU game thread, but will put it here, too. We were not one of the top 16 seeds in tonight's big reveal. Iowa and Northwestern were the last two in. Those losses are looking to be costly -- and we don't play either again. I would think a win Thursday over the Twerps would elevate us into that group, though. ... Greenville: 1. South Carolina, 7. NC State, No. 11 UCLA, No. 15 Iowa Dallas: 2. Baylor, 6. Stanford, 12. Gonzaga, 13. Arizona Portland: 4. Oregon, 8. Maryland, 10. Mississippi State, 14. DePaul Fort Wayne: 3. Louisville, 5. UConn, 9. Oregon State, 16. Northwestern -

Withstood their run and even created a little breathing room there at the end. Would love to beat the Toiletmakers by 30, but I'll take it. A sweep!

Beautiful drive, Grace!

Berger's been quiet this half. ... Would like to see her pick it back up.

15-point lead down to 6. C'mon ladies, let's regroup.

I opened the stats tab at halftime to see the first-half numbers. I left it open and the score was getting updated a couple seconds before the action on TV. ... And I'm watching the game on TV, not on a stream -- didn't realize the feed was that far behind!

I Yes, I realize there's a thread about this. But I was curious if anybody here had an answer. And if she wants to transfer, that's fine with me. I wish her the best. I'm just confused about the timing. Believe me, I've been on this board a while and know how to post. But thanks.

I'm still curious about Yeaney's transfer. She played two full years and six games this season. She can't still apply for a redshirt, can she? So this year is lost? Unless she has a dramatic reason for leaving right now -- I saw someone write something somewhere about a sick relative -- or is totally miserable, why not finish the season? Or can she be considered a midseason transfer and get half this year back? Otherwise, I still don't get the timing ...
