The best way to respond is to just keep winning. Do that, and we will be impossible to ignore.

Fred Glass goes off on the CFB disrespect of IUFB
cthomas replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Good for Glass. He was a much better AD than some wanted to give him credit for. Now, with no dog in the fight, he comes to the defense of our team when he didn't really have to. And he said things that a sitting AD can't. IF we keep winning and IF we start filling our stadium when fans are allowed back, the people in charge will not be able to ignore us. If we had beaten OSU, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Winning on the field takes care of everything. -
We have to stack good years together to get the respect we want. One or two good years won't do it. Winning a major bowl game will help. Build the tradition and good things will come. Otherwise, this year will look like a fluke.

Favorite All-Time Hoosier Basketball Player
cthomas replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Walt Bellamy deserves a mention. I don't remember much about that team, but Bellamy made a memorable impression with his size and agility. Over the years, there have been so many great players who I liked for different reasons. My overall favorite is probably Isaiah Thomas. He was an assassin with a smile. -
I never want kids to fail to achieve their goals, but the adults need to be more responsible in how they deal with them. A realistic assessment of skills and abilities and a good support system would go a long way. I'm tired of predatory coaches, I'm looking at you Cal, promising kids the moon and then kicking them to the curb when it doesn't immediately work out. Sorry for the rant, but this stuff really gets under my skin.

I don't know that much about the Zags, but I have to think they have more integrity than those you mentioned. Integrity matters.

And if he can finish it he deserves all the credit he will be given.

Agree and that was really my point. Wasn't trying to be negative towards the young man at all.

Maybe and I'll give you that one. But we saw the short throws quite a bit during his time here. I admire his toughness and his is a guy you can go to war with. I just think he is limited as a QB.

I loved Ramsey when he was our QB, now not so much. The pick in the end zone was his problem when he was here. Under thrown balls.

The story early in the season for me is the emergence of Franklin and the play of Galloway. Trey seems to be growing at a shocking rate right now. I'm still waiting for Hunter to get there, but am not giving up on him. The rest are about where I thought they would be. Butler is never a walk in the park and they always compete no matter how out manned they seem to be. This was a good win in spite of what some seem to think.

Butler has had some pretty good teams even before the Stevens era. They did get a little full of themselves there for a while, but their program is no joke. I remember the Tony Hinkle days and they were not a cupcake on anyone's schedule. They have beaten some pretty good IU teams. I get that some want to play bigger names. Maybe we should make sure we beat the"inferior" Butler's of the world first.

It hits home. At 72, I know that I can't do all the things I used to do or even some the things I think I still can. I have never met anyone I interact with here, but over time I feel like I know others from the things they say. Agree with them or not, they are still a part of the experience and I don't want to lose that. I visit HSN regularly and post there when something strikes my fancy. This site is for all practical purposes my home. I always paid attention whenever I saw Mile had posted something. As I said, I don't really know anyone on these boards, and yet, with each passing I feel as if I have lost something that matters to me.

Great article about a very high quality young man.

Nothing wrong with that. When I played in high school in the early '60s, and and I was not good, we had fist fights during practice. Not everyone liked everyone, but on game night we were a team. To me, chemistry is a little over rated. Learning how to work and cooperate with people you don't necessarily like is one of life's great lessons.

Bob Knight was allowed to become bigger than the university in the eyes of some in the administration. That perception led to his firing. From a university perspective, they don't want that to happen again so the will to make IU great is not there. I sense that they are happy with being competitive and avoiding embarrassing scandals. The number of passionate fans, like come here, are dwindling along with student interest. I personally don't think winning will change that. It's the nature of the world we live in. I grew up with the Branch McCracken 'Hurryin' Hoosiers' and never missed listening on the radio. Everyone I knew discussed the game the next day. I just don't see that level of interest now. And without that, what we have is what we get because not enough people demand more.

Whether it's corporate America, politics, or high end athletics, follow the money and you'll understand what happens. I honestly don't have a problem with OSU being in the championship game. They beat us. The rule was a dumb thing to put in place to begin with. When I was a manager, I used guidelines, not rules, as my management philosophy. Guidelines gave me room to take circumstances into consideration. Rules did not. Rules create an uncomfortable box that have to be uniformly enforced or, as a leader, you lose the respect of those you manage. It will be interesting to see what the fallout will be if OSU is allowed to play in the championship game.

Indiana vs Purdue GAME CANCELLED AGAIN
cthomas replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
With both teams on pause, chances of a bucket game are slim indeed. -
I love our team. Maybe the best IU football team I have seen in over sixty years of watching. OSU is on another level. I thought a variety of factors allowed us back in the game and I doubt that they make the same mistakes again. We have way more to lose playing them again this year than we do to gain.
