  1. We often forget that these gifted athletes are also just people under the surface. I don't know anything about his particular situation but I do have a lot of experience with mentally ill people. Often in situations like his mental instability is at the heart of the problem. Throwing money at it only helps in the short term. It does nothing to help the underlying issues. Mental illness is a hard problem and we don't deal with hard problems very well in this country. I hope he gets the kind of help he needs.
  2. Agree all day on Ponds. But, I think we enough talent back there to compensate for his loss with the development that this staff is becoming famous for. Plus I think Haines is the best in the business and will scheme what we need. Part of that is that I think our d-line is going to be even better this year. Opposing qbs aren't going to have all day to find receivers down field. Even though we lost a lot of important pieces on defense, I think the sum of what we have on the roster is going to be even better. Honestly, I worry more about the offense than the defense.
  3. But F1 is a technical series.
  4. If Harris is who I think he is, we should be fine. We have a lot of talent and the best staff in the country to develop it.
  5. After nearly 70 years of distaste for all things Purdue, I take immense pleasure in the recent turn of events in football. For years, Purdue has promoted themselves as the "cradle of quarterbacks" and Cignetti has snatched that from them. Crushed their soul. Maybe they can be the "cradle of mediocre quarterbacks" going forward.
  6. Agreed. That this is where we are as a society is the most sad. That there are people outside of the IU community who think it's OK to come to campus and start shooting over a disagreement is insane. Young people should be able to celebrate a university tradition and feel safe while doing it. I don't know where we go from here but something has to change.
  7. It would have been a great story if Alberto could have been the guy. But if we know anything about Cig, it's that the offense is built around the quarterback. We have had two exceptional quarterbacks so far and after listening to Hoover after the spring game, I think we have another. To be at the top of the college football world business decisions have to outweigh emotional ones. Cig is a cold dude in the best possible way.
  8. Anyone still underestimating IU football is an idiot. Hopefully, IU basketball catches up soon.
  9. Doing what? Stealing to the quad?
  10. Cig has the coaching chops and attention to the "standard" of Coach Knight without the fatal flaws. Best of both worlds. Can't stand Hurley or UCon so hope they lose in the most painful way possible.
  11. What alternate universe did I wake up where this is Indiana football. We are as far from "LEO" as we can possibly get and I'm loving every minute of it.
  12. You talking about Purdue basketball or Purdue girls?
  13. Good luck to any coach in any sport coming to IU and having to follow what Cignetti has done here.
  14. Don't know if they were there at the same time, but definitely the same high school so I'm sure Sales is very familiar with Cooper's career there.
  15. I enjoyed the fact that Cooper played his high school football just a few miles from where I live. Would enjoy watching Sales do the same. But I'm way past worrying about who we get or don't get. Cig's talent evaluation is second to no one and our roster be just fine.
  16. Show them Hoosier hospitality, but they better not be messing with our women.
  17. Wouldn't it be insane if Nebraska, a football blue blood, won a Natty in basketball in the same year IU, a basketball blue blood, won a Natty in football. The symmetry would be unbelievable. Truly the beginning of a new age.
  18. My grandsons played football and wrestled for Plainfield. One placed fourth in the state meet in the top weight class. I spent a lot of time at sporting events in Plainfield. Good times.
  19. Cig could straighten that place out before spring practice starts.
  20. We have to make sure that the stadium is full of our fans and not OSU fans. They will always be good. We have to continue to close the talent gap and continue with mistake free, high level execution football.
  21. Score to open the second half and Miami is in a world of hurt.
  22. Just do what got us here and we'll be fine.
  23. One more time for the glory of old IU! Cigs - 35 U of Whoever - 13
  24. And that's one cute little girl.
