  1. Haven't watched more than 30 minutes of IU basketball so far this season. Have been all in on football. Kinda followed this thread because it was Kentucky but no really into it. We have a new coach who had to completely restock the roster and hire a staff at the same time. Not an easy thing to do in this conference. I watched this team building process and thought it might be a long year. Like it or not this is a rebuilding year. We need to establish a style of play and then sell that to recruits and portal guys. Our coach knows what he,he is doing and what he needs going forward. Every hire is not going to be Cignetti-like. Good things are coming.
  2. We have come a long way and still have a long way to go. Locking down Haines was a great start. We need to establish sustainability to really grow the program. Remember, the big boys have generations of success to rely on. We are just starting. We'll get there if the commitment continues. Outside of the 76 basketball team, the past two years of football have been the most enjoyable in my life.
  3. Needs to continue and increase. I love what we are doing in football right now and there's no reason why it can't continue with the proper investment. We need to ride this as far as possible.
  4. Probably the second most important piece of the puzzle.
  5. Never even considered that Mendosa would be more than a one year player. And I don't think he did either.
  6. As incredible as Cig has been, I think you have to look at things in terms of pre NIL and portal and post both of those. No matter how great a coach is, none of this happens as quickly in the previous era. If Cig was hired and had to coach what Tom Allen left here, I don't think we would be where we are right now. We would have been better for sure but not, in my opinion, undefeated B1G champions in year two.
  7. The only way that I can make sense of what Cignetti has done is that we are near the 'end of days'.
  8. I thought the same thing at the time. Worst case scenario we were going to overtime. We were getting to the red zone fairly consistently but just couldn't get a touchdown.
  9. With anyone other than Mendosa, we likely lose at Iowa, Oregon, and PSU and this game isn't played and we aren't in the playoffs. He's a generational QB for us. Enjoy the time left with him.
  10. I worry about the trenches and their overall depth. But, all the questions will be answered soon. Cigs - 28 Days - 24.
  11. Cigs - 49 Odoms - 3 Want it to be worse, but we have bigger fish to fry. They can sit home and watch how a real football program does it.
  12. We don't like them, they don't like us. Nothing more needs be said. It's not possible to beat them by enough points.
  13. Mendosa might be the smoothest most media aware player ever at IU. He is way more than his football skills. He will be an IU legend and probably the best QB to wear an IU uniform.
  14. Remember when we just wanted a serviceable quarterback? My how things have changed in Bloomington.
  15. At full strength I think we can give OSU a game. If we have key people out, our backups are not as good as theirs. It's just where we are as a program right now. I think Cignetti gets us in a couple of more cycles but we are not there right now.
  16. Absolutely right. It will be their game to ruin our undefeated season. They will play their best game of the season and we have to be ready for it. Let's finish this off.
  17. Mendosa not having a great day. O-line isn't helping, but still.
  18. You suit up for Wisconsin, you deserve all the misery you get. No mercy!
  19. I am so blown away by what these guys have accomplished. Been listening or watching since the early 60's and a winning season was all I ever hoped for. I probably would have bet my life that IU football would have ever been even close to being undefeated. Congratulations to everyone involved with this magical last two years.
  20. Cigs - 56 Rodents - 6 Hope it's worse than that!
  21. I like to hatch my chickens before I count them
  22. At full strength I think we can give OSU a game. If we have key people out, our backups are not as good as theirs. It's just where we are as a program right now. I think Cignetti gets us in a couple of more cycles but we are not there right now.
  23. I was also very impressed with the sportsmanship demonstrated by Fischer when helped the PSU quarterback off the turf after the desperation throw. That expression of respect for the opponent is missing far too often these days. I have grandkids involved in youth sports and way too often the lack of sportsmanship is glaring. And more often than not the parents are the worst. I wouldn't expect anything less from a player who Cignetti brings into the program. Winning is important but doing it the right way is more important. Congrats to a fine young man.
  24. I agree. Talent matters and Coach Smith got them to believe that they could win the game. Being at home was a huge relief to PSU. Our lack of quality depth was exposed some in this game. With Cignetti we'll get there in terms of talent but it's going to take a few cycles. Fortunately, Coach Cignetti is really good at identifying talent in the portal. I would be shocked if PSU doesn't win the last three games on their schedule. We need very badly to get as healthy as possible before we get to the playoffs.
