  1. OSU arrogance about to bite them in the butt.
  2. Fellow old timer here and I completely understand. However, there's A 50/50 chance I'll see midnight tonight but probably won't remember it.
  3. Honestly, first game I have watched start to finish this season. We aren't going to out talent many teams in the B1G so we will have to win on effort. We'll find out how bad this team wants it. I don't know what to make of CDD. He might be the guy or he might end up just another middle of the pack coaches grinding out a career. The real test will be to see what he puts on the court next year.
  4. The CFB needs to be the best teams regardless of who they are. Being inclusive doesn't make it better. Tulane and JMU getting badly beaten doesn't do anything for those programs. In the current climate, they simply don't belong. Fill the field with the best teams available.
  5. After the OSU game, I fear no one. We have a complete team and they will compete with anyone until the very end.
  6. Not sure either of these teams finish in the top half of the B1G.
  7. Watching this game makes me realize how really good we are.
  8. Ain't gonna be no shootout against our defense.
  9. Alabama going to get their coach fired. I know it's still early but the Tide looks Wisconsin good. Oklahoma going to be a tough game.
  10. I don't really have a dog in the fight but I I know that Glass has been a prominent part of the group of people who made Indianapolis what it is today in the sports world. Like I said, Cignetti may be the best coach in college football but even he could not have turned this around so quickly without the players. And a significant number of them came from the portal. I'll go one step farther and say that without Mendosa, we would be a three loss team and looking at a lesser bowl game. Coaching matters, but so do players.
  11. Never in my lifetime did I think college basketball would become unrecognizable. The turnover in players has turned IU into just another team to me. When I watch games, I still only know who two or three players are. The game I loved will never be again. I'm an old guy so that's probably OK.
  12. Regardless of what anyone thinks of Fred Glass, he was a major player in developing Indianapolis in to a major player in hosting sporting events. And, he is still doing good work in the city. I might add that none of the other ad's before him did much to enhance the football program. I love Coach Cignetti and think he is arguably the best coach in college football. But, even he could not have resurrected the corpse of IU football without the portal and NIL.
  13. I don't want to pile on no matter how disrespectful his behavior was after the ceremony. He made some bad choices that he will have to live with. He obviously didn't have the kind of support system that Fernando had growing up. Hopefully he learns from this and becomes a better person. Pavia is very talented and has had a great season. From what I have seen from his mom, I'm not surprised that he acted the way he did. Maybe this will be an opportunity to learn and grow. I am so happy that Fernando is representing IU.
  14. It's way too soon to give up on CDD in my opinion. He's going to learn a lot about what it takes to win in B1G. I think he will be a good coach if we give him a chance. In the meantime enjoy the unprecedented success of our football team as they seek our first national championship in football.
  15. We follow who Cig brings in to keep IU football at an elite status. IU belongs to Coach Cignetti now. From the Present on down. Get with the program.
  16. Haven't watched more than 30 minutes of IU basketball so far this season. Have been all in on football. Kinda followed this thread because it was Kentucky but no really into it. We have a new coach who had to completely restock the roster and hire a staff at the same time. Not an easy thing to do in this conference. I watched this team building process and thought it might be a long year. Like it or not this is a rebuilding year. We need to establish a style of play and then sell that to recruits and portal guys. Our coach knows what he,he is doing and what he needs going forward. Every hire is not going to be Cignetti-like. Good things are coming.
  17. We have come a long way and still have a long way to go. Locking down Haines was a great start. We need to establish sustainability to really grow the program. Remember, the big boys have generations of success to rely on. We are just starting. We'll get there if the commitment continues. Outside of the 76 basketball team, the past two years of football have been the most enjoyable in my life.
  18. Needs to continue and increase. I love what we are doing in football right now and there's no reason why it can't continue with the proper investment. We need to ride this as far as possible.
  19. Probably the second most important piece of the puzzle.
  20. Never even considered that Mendosa would be more than a one year player. And I don't think he did either.
  21. As incredible as Cig has been, I think you have to look at things in terms of pre NIL and portal and post both of those. No matter how great a coach is, none of this happens as quickly in the previous era. If Cig was hired and had to coach what Tom Allen left here, I don't think we would be where we are right now. We would have been better for sure but not, in my opinion, undefeated B1G champions in year two.
  22. The only way that I can make sense of what Cignetti has done is that we are near the 'end of days'.
  23. I thought the same thing at the time. Worst case scenario we were going to overtime. We were getting to the red zone fairly consistently but just couldn't get a touchdown.
