  1. I'm 72 and I love what you bring (not in a creepy way, .I have daughters and granddaughters). We all have opinions and that's what makes this work.
  2. I love the female perspective on this. Sometimes there is just too much testosterone on here. And as much as I like to drool over Sage Steele, it's nice to have the opposite viewpoint.
  3. This is NOT a comment aimed at you. But it amazes me how easy it is to find money for things like this and how hard it is to find money for the difficult problems we face as a society. Once again, not a negative aimed at you. Just an observation about a bigger problem.
  4. And that to me is the problem. As much as I loved coach Knight, the game was passing him bye at the end of his career. As a young coach, he was the most innovative guy in the game. But, he didn't adapt at the end. I don't want to go that route in this day and age.
  5. I have no insight whatsoever, but I think at the very least the next coach needs to be relatable to today's kids. Not something that pleases me, but the way of the world. I know I don't want a system coach. I want a coach who adapts to the strengths of the players. To me, there is no one right way to play the game. There is only what works best for who you have. As much as I liked CAM, I think that was his weakness. So, this was a long way to say that I want a relatable, flexible, open minded coach to lead the program. Admittedly, I don't know who that is. That decision is way above my pay grade.
  6. We can speculate all day long and AD's or CEO's talk is just that. It's where the rubber meets the road that makes a difference. We should find out soon whether the problem has been the coach or if the problem has been the university. Right now, I'm leaning towards the latter.
  7. I have loved IU basketball since 1956, that I can remember. And I don't really want to be that guy, but on some level it bothers me that we can throw around that kind of money over a basketball coach in light of the needs of so many, especially now. Probably not appropriate, but I have been drinking a bit. (Playing the old card now.)
  8. I love a guy with a sense of humor. Probably not going to happen and I actually have great respect for the Alabama football program, whether above board not. I like that you took the correct steps to protect your excellent basketball coach from predators. The world of sports can be an ugly place.
  9. One of my favorite IU graduates. Not bad to look at either. (Is it alright to say that. If not, I'm playing the 'old' card.)
  10. Us old guys need to stick together.
  11. I would rather everyone THINK I'm an idiot than name my choice and have everyone KNOW I'm an idiot.
  12. I've always found pigs strangely attractive. But, put lipstick on one.....irresistible!
  13. Probably going there no matter what happens!
  14. The one semester that I spent on campus was the spring of '76 in grad school. Not a bad time either.
  15. I have no idea who will or should be our next coach. The debate going on just leaves me confused. At this point I'm not even angry, just sad.
  16. I don't think that is necessarily true. Another year could give an unofficial IU representative time to talk agents to determine interest and at what dollar amount does it take to talk. Back channel stuff that probably should have / or is going on already. Probably no one except fans were even thinking about replacing CAM after this season. Having another year would provide time for IU to search and potential replacements to consider an offer. I think as fans we sometimes underestimate the complexity of changing coaches.
  17. People with the kind of disposable money we are talking about didn't get that way making rash decisions. They are used to playing the long game to maximize returns. I can easily see them being willing to wait one more year to reduce the cost as well as secure the right replacement.
  18. After reading through the various coach related threads, I might have to take a year vacation from the board if CAM is back next season.
  19. Wasn't expecting a win, but without Race playing, it could get really ugly really fast.
  20. As I said in the game thread, I see that as healthy progress.
  21. We are slowly moving from outright rage to gallows humor. Dr cthomas sees that as progress.
  22. How much would Izzo have to say about Fife coming here. If he is indeed the heir apparent at MSU, would he even want to take on our mess. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember Coach Knight discouraging assistants from taking some jobs. Would Izzo want Fife at Indiana competing against him.
  23. I wasn't disagreeing with your point at all. I was just saying that it was THAT and all the other factors that made the job very difficult for him.
  24. Didn't want to wade into that pond but not going to argue the point. There was still a lot of animosity over Knight's firing and the circumstances surrounding Davis being hired. All of which has led to this point. At least, that's how I remember it. (This is where I play the old man card if I'm wrong.)
