Ooohhh!!! One more post filled with name calling and bashing and this crappy thread gets locked?!? Read carefully my friends: Tom Crean's feet stink. mdn82 is a poopyhead. Jaybob's mullet is dull and lifeless. ccgeneral's use of emoticons is beneath him. Stuhoo is perpetually annoying. Tijan Jobe has TERRIBLE form on his 3 pt. shot, and is a disservice to ligers. That oughta do it. Lock 'er up.7 points -

Here's what I think you meant to say. Corrections in red: "No way. Those freshmen are going to be great in 3 years. They're good, fun kids. Let them do their thing." Punctuation really does make a difference.4 points -

Thanks for posting the tweets, Dalton. The tweet about one pitch answered my question. I wondered if Coach Smith was trying to audition a replacement for Halstead. Hopefully no "centerfolds" were harmed during this game. :cool:3 points -

I'm starting to think that this thread just needs to be locked. What part of the preceding dozen posts did not get the message through about name calling and bashing? I deleted the post, but any more like that and we'll just hand out warning points. Argue the points, leave the personal attacks and descriptions out of it. Final warning.3 points -

At best, you've illustrated that maybe everyone posting here needs to familiarize themselves with the forum rules and guidelines. If they stopped short of mentally challenged, your post seems to have went there. So how about everybody show respect for other posters and their opinions. Its not like a Fire Tom Crean thread isn't kind of a lightning rod already, right? I suspect a dws might illuminate some intent here.2 points -

DWS = Done with sarcasm Yes, mods are going to try to stay out of it till it starts skirting the line. We would prefer not to police the threads any more than necessary. Hopefully, posters police their own comments. As far as CTC's coaching, or the teams play, there has been plenty posted on that. This thread is mostly that. Otherwise than some who take every opportunity to post negativity, no matter the subject matter of the thread, or those who start making personal attacks on CTC and/or the players, I'm not aware that there has been any censorship. Yes, some "tone it downs" are handed out here and there, but that's about it. And yes, that's the thing about this thread, both sides seem to find themselves personally invested quite often.1 point -

Never saw Stan Rob attack the basket once this year. I wish he would learn to get to the rim. Just MHO, but I think we do a pretty good job here of letting both sides air their views. Just be warned that your comments are pretty close to violating the No Bashing rule. We don't have a lot of rules, so they shouldn't be that hard to keep up with. Read them over again, and play nice.1 point -
So you are going to say to watch out for people who take an aggressive approach to his first post, then turn around and call them mentally challenged? You are the last person to criticize anyone when that is your response. These types of post are the reason some boards are completely unbearable. One side has no problem calling out the other side for some of the things they say. But they have no problem doing the exact same thing themselves, both extremes are equally wrong.1 point

The zone is about 10 times more complicated to beat than a lot of fans make it out to be. It doesn't help that they are playing against guys of mostly the same skill level who are running a zone that is itself is difficult to beat. But of course since the ideas of how to beat a zone seem simple a lot of fans think it should be easy to execute, which it isn't. Also can we stop with the statements like "anyone who disagrees go do (insert any number of statements that implies they aren't watching enough of something)".1 point
-
Oy. You complain about not attacking the basket and the weave. That's really pretty silly considering the weave is designed to create favorable matchups and positioning to attack the basket with. We aren't playing 5 Michael Jordans out there who can just beat their man and get to the rim at will. The weave, when it works, creates the opportunity to attack the basket. It hasn't worked very well this season. If you've been watching, you should have noticed that we've been running it less and less.1 point

Think what I posted about simple people thinking too simple applies here. Sent from my sarcastic iPhone using BrownBanners1 point -
You kind of lose all credibility when you say that we don't run an offense. We very clearly do. That should be obvious to anyone who actually watches the game. Even the much-loathed weave is designed to do something very specific on offense. Unfortunately, it has its counters and that's why it is often ineffective. Although, it does work sometimes. Argue all you want that our offense doesn't work or work as well as you think it should, but we definitely have one that we run. I realize that it is a very complex offense, so if you are used to watching seventh graders, it might be a bit over your head to figure out what is going on.1 point
Ok I honestly wish Crean wasn't as bad as a coach as he honestly is. The fact of the matter he just isn't as good at the Xs and Os as most elementary girls basketball coachs. We don't even run an offense. We just hand the ball off and there is no movement at all with anyone who doesn't have the ball until there is a few seconds left and we jack up a long shot. We can't even get the ball inbounds from out of bounds. Half the time we are throwing it 3/4 the court to try and get it in. No one sets pick or moves to try and get the ball in either but I assume the reason is the same as the 1/2 court offense they do not have any plays to run(at least none worth anything). The only time we look good is on fast breaks. Another thing I don't understand is if u ask a group of 7th graders how tobeat a zone they should be able to explain it to you. How can Crean or anyone on the coaching staff for that matter not understand how? If you don't understand something as simple as how to beat a zone why would you try and run a zone yourself...... Crean has to go for IU to every have a chance to be any good. We basically had a team that should have made the Final 4 with a 2 year old coaching them. Anyone who disagrees please watch all 4 guys on offense while Yogi is just dribbling around and they are all stagnant.
We should just hire this guy.
