(2027 IUWBB) - Camille Pangonis
mickey one replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Ok, this one is a bit of a mystery. Competition not stellar. Numbers not at the top. Ranking non-existent. An offer from Wagner College? Colsten, where are you? What's up? -

Yeah, good luck with any kind of ruling/decision other than "Sorsby plays"... as ridiculous as that is, clearly the fix is in.

Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
I've changed the title of the thread to place her in the '27 recruiting class. Colin McMahon covers IU for TheHoosierOn3 - Indiana women’s basketball has landed a commitment from 5-11 wing Camille Pangonis, per her Instagram. The Canada native becomes the second commit in #iuwbb’s class of 2027, and was a member of Fort Erie Academy, a prep school in Ontario. Stats for 11 games on last season's Grind Session (same league as GiGi Battle). https://grindsession.sportstrack.app/basketball/teams/1592_245/stats?player=Camille_Pangonis&rosterId=15451_1592_245&report=totals -

(2027 IUWBB) - Sydney Savoury
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Don't think we have much of a chance to lure Sydney to Bloomington. Her mother is Lisa Savoury - Michigan Athletics, Asst. AD for Sport Administration - Former College Coach - Proud mother of Jayden and Sydney - BYU WBB Alumnae. -
Oh I don't think he was miraculously cured but with young people in college betting is a serious problem. Most don't have that kind of money to bet but once they start and make money they just can't stop no matter if it's $1, 10, or 100. I was also not saying he was exempt from consequences. UC should not be exempt either because IF they did leak it and knew, how do you not get the kid help football be damned. I do not think he should play. It's a VERY bad precedent to set. You will have kids point shaving and even now I think you have to question whether that's going on with players that are surely doing it hoping they don't get caught or even the refs. I expected the injunction. I knew it was coming from a Texas judge. I actually was surprised it was 2 games and not 6. Either way it's wrong. NCAA will appeal but who knows if they win. They don't have a very good track record in court when the injunctions are awarded. I am sympathetic to the kid himself not the situation. I hate to see any young person throw away an opportunity he had because of foolish decisions. That is life though and it's all a learning experience. It will definitely HELP someone. I doubt he is going to stop betting. If it was that easy to stop, he would have a long time ago. Hopefully they have plenty of oversight in place but there are ways around it. We knew a baseball player a few years back that was betting through his cousin. if they want to do it, they find a way to do it. It's unfortunate. I suspect the pressure gets TTU and they will have to bench him. He may sue them if he can't play because of said pressure and they will be on the hook for NIL. It kind of appears he will win either way IF the scenario plays out this way. There's still a chance the B12 suspends him I guess. Again, I think the coming weeks will be interesting with how this plays out.

Its actually top 5 so that a group of 6 school can enter and save an anti-trust suit. Duke was 5th behind JMU and Tulane.
-
With all the IU figures featuring in sports right now, who makes the front page of ESPN.com today? Big Boi, obviously ;)
-
Rules changed last year it was the top 4 ranked conference champs and JMU was ranked higher than Duke iirc

College football P4 conferences considering a boycott? The ball is in your court: A Texas court scheduled Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby's trial against the NCAA for Feb. 8, 2027, two weeks after the College Football Playoff National Championship is scheduled to be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The 99th District Court in Lubbock County, Texas, where Texas Tech is located, scheduled the trial Monday, the same day a judge granted Sorsby a temporary injunction that might clear him to play for the Red Raiders in 2026 even after the NCAA declared him ineligible for wagering on college sports. The NCAA has already appealed Judge Ken Curry's ruling to the Court of Appeals for the Seventh District of Texas in Amarillo. Each of the four justices in the Seventh District -- Chief Justice Judy Parker and Lawrence Doss, Alex Yarbrough and Laura Pratt -- are graduates of the Texas Tech School of Law, according to their online bios.

Is that determined by conference? Because Duke didn't get in to the CFP even though they won the ACC.

NBA max contract money for a tv personality is insane to me, but Pat made me a fan by riding hard for IU the past two years. He’s better than the other slop espn puts out there these days.

Daily Hoosier post says 2027: "IU women’s basketball got a commitment from Ontario based 5-11 wing Camille Pangonis. Appears to be class of 2027." (Schumann) But here's the North Pole Hoops listing her as 26: https://northpolehoops.com/2026/01/14/wnpa-session-3-top-standouts/ -
Odds/Thoughts on building top 25 preseason
HoosierHoopster replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not sure he wants to go by PAM. :{ -
I don’t watch him either, but he does pump out a ton of content: three hours per day Mon-Fri (400-450K avg audience) plus GameDay during CFB season and some other one offs. I guess ESPN can sell enough ads to make it work. It probably helps he’s especially strong in NFL and CFB which are of course the huge sports, plus the younger demo (no pun intended) likes him. For me though, he does so much content he is often a mile wide and an inch deep which I don’t like, I’d rather listen to the deep dive nerds.
-
He's worth whatever someone is willing to pay him. Unfortunately, it probably means ESPN further gutting out anything that resembles journalism or fact finding they have left...and making all their channels/mediums another couple bucks a month.

Help an old guy out here. McAfee does nothing for me but I have nothing against him. Is he really all this? 60 mil a year?

They could still put them at #12 and force them to play the #5 team at that teams field. That would the toughest matchup they would get. That would've been Oregon this last year which wouldn't have been an easy matchup. They got smoked by them in the QF in the Orange Bowl.
