A quote from Archie in an early Espn article: "You're driving and you see the sign for Bedford and you say to yourself, 'Wow, the players that came out of there,'" Miller says. "You go across the state and you reminisce about the players and coaches who have made those same drives. I say, 'Man, I hope I get an All-American out of one of these towns one day.'" Hartford City may end up being one of those towns. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

Just got home from the game, figured you and the general would be all over it. Dogfight it was, great game! Marian hit big shot after big shot and Riley played like crap for the most part. Damezi had a horrible shooting night. but this team just does not get rattled. DA hit a 3 to tie it up with 40 seconds to go in regulation. Then had a key block and a rebound tip-in in overtime on successive possessions to put Riley in command for good. Cat is a flat out winner.

Love hearing this. Among other skills, I really want to see IU get back to the team that scraps, claws, and fights for wins when they're not on their game. Anderson seems like a kid who brings a lot of intangibles. Hopefully, Phinisee and Anderson will be the foundation for CAM's success at IU by playing FOR Indiana. A good season or two can really change the image of a program. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Not sure where else to put this, so I'll put it here since it's relevant to Romeo. I'm watching Darius Garland in the Tournament of Champions on CBS Sports Network and it pains me to say, he's really good. In the 4th quarter and he's got 35 points against La Lumiere. But it also occurs to me, there's no way another scorer who wants to be featured in an offense like Romeo Langford would mesh well with Garland. Darius is so used to being the guy, throwing up tons of shots, I just can't see Romeo wanting to play with him. It'd be different if Romeo was a 6'9" post player, but they're both back court players. I just don't see him playing at Vandy with Garland.

    Victor Oladipo - Memphis Grizzlies

Oladipo also out dueled Lebron down stretch and hit game winning go ahead 3 with just under 2 min. left. Lebron stepped out of bounds along the baseline trying to drive for the game winning basket with under 5 sec. left. Great game. Pacers 3-0 vs. Cavs this year.

Well, we just finished tens of millions of dollars worth of renovations to keep and improve one of the most historic venues in college basketball, while adding state of the art nutrition and exercise facilities for all student athletes in Memorial Stadium. Earlier you posted that we didn’t have enough money to replace AH. Can you prove that? Because that sounds like BS to me. In my opinion, this fan base and the boosters have zero interest in tearing down AH. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE - When asked about Riley’s mindset heading into overtime with its 12-0 record on the line against Marian, Damezi Anderson didn’t mind admitting that the No. 1-ranked (Class 4A) Wildcats were feeling some pressure. But they weren’t about to let it faze them. “We were a little worried,” said Anderson, “but we knew we were going to get the job done. It’s all about toughness and who wants it more.” And in a seesaw affair in which both teams fought for every basket and loose ball, the Wildcats won a few more battles. Riley (13-0) staved off Class 3A Marian (7-2) in overtime, 64-60, behind Anderson’s 27 points, which included four of the team's nine in the extra frame. “Marian came out and played lights out,” said Riley head coach Eric Brand. “My hat’s off to them for how hard they played. We talked about making them make some shots, and they made them. This was a good game for us to see where we’re at and where we want to be.” With one of their key players, Michael Hemingway, struggling with foul trouble and going scoreless in the first half for Marian, Zach Lattimer’s 18 points on 6-of-11 from 3-point range helped the Knights keep Riley within striking distance. Teammate Jaden Ivey chipped in 17 points, including 4-of-5 from deep. Marian went into the fourth quarter with a 41-40 lead, and with Ivey scoring 10 in the period, opened up a five-point advantage, threatening to send a few shockwaves through the state. But hustle plays from Riley’s Shamar Dillard and Rylen Grundy, who added two highlight-reel dunks in the game, kept Marian from pulling off the upset. Dillard had six of his 12 points in the fourth quarter, and Grundy scored four in the frame. “When I see Shamar, Grundy, Jalen (Jennings), and my teammates making big plays, I know we’re all together,” remarked Anderson. “It motivates me to go even harder. When they’re making big plays, I know I have to make big plays.” Neither team could break a 55-55 tie in the final minute of regulation, however, and Anderson’s 3-pointer at the horn missed long, sending the game to overtime. The extra period was all Riley as clutch baskets from Anderson, Dillard and Jennings helped close out the game. While Marian head coach Robb Berger remarked that his team wasn't satisfied with “moral victories,” there were some obvious positives. “I was proud of how we competed,” Berger said. “That’s a good team, a well-coached team, and we went toe-to-toe with them for 36 minutes.”

I enjoy monitoring this forum to get a lot of different opinions and points of view on I U women's basketball. I have never commented on this site until now. I saw this post a while ago and couldn't contain myself any longer. I have enjoyed watching the team improve over the last several years and I am hopeful for a continued improvement. Although we are at mid-season, I am considering this year a learning or rebuilding year, in the hopes that we will continue an upward trend after this year. That being said, if Wisne needs a year to improve, then I don't think IU is the place to go for her at this time. In the last several years, there has only been one player that has stuck around and improved and that is Kym Royster. All the other players with promise have not improved and not stuck around. I don't think the current I U women's staff is very interested in developing players with potential. They seem to be more interested in recruiting players who can make an immediate impact. Established powerhouse programs can afford to recruit only players that can have an immediate impact, but other programs, like I U, need to be able to develop players in order to get to the next level. Although that seems to be the plan, it currently is not the reality for I U wbb. I think for Wisne's own good, she needs to go to a program where either she can be an immediate impact, or go to a program where she can develop. Unfortunately, I don't think I U can offer her either one of those options at this time.

In L31 it’s going to be a total rebuild, have 3 decent seniors but the rest of the cupboard is bare and the coach I took over for screwed up recruiting this year by going big on guys that have no interest in playing in Ft. Myers. I’m going to have to try and salvage something out of nothing in this seasons recruiting class but it’s going to take a couple years I think. Have a better team in L34 but think I may have screwed up on my first real week of recruiting, not paying close enough attention to the conference the player was in vs the region. Struggling with the style of play choices and how that affects your results. I find myself wanting to fast forward these seasons (much like IU’s) and get on with recruiting and improve the team. Archie had positive comments on Clifton Moore from the radio show: On Clifton Moore: “He’s right there. He hasn’t had a chance yet, but I think it’s inevitable that Clifton’s going to get in Big Ten games as we move forward. He’s gotta stay ready. He works extremely hard in practice and is getting better. He’ll be ready when his number is called just because of how much he cares and what a good teammate he’s been. Right now, we haven’t had to go that direction. We’re probably playing Juwan a little too much, probably need to look at a couple windows where we can get Clifton in, so that when he does have that opportunity where he has to play extended minutes, that he’s prepared for it.” http://www.insidethehall.com/2018/01/12/news-and-notes-from-archie-millers-radio-show-7/

I know you can say this about most announcers who coached but I find it hard to listen to him just on the basis that half the stuff he points out he didn't do well at IU. It's like a credibility hit. He's obviously very knowledgeable and better than some of the other yo yo's they have working there.
