From outward appearances I thought we jumped on the Brown bandwagon awfully late in the game to have a reasonable chance.

It seems Crean and co. can do that with guards/wings and get away with it. We've had some very successful late recruiting hauls in the past. However, I think MSU has several players leave early for the NBA and he commits there. Has Crean pulled any recruits from his home state while at IU?

My list is strictly those who I think we have a chance with

PG:  1.  Scruggs 2. Waters 3. Durham 4. Barcello

SG:  none

SF:  1.  Wilkes  2.  Tucker  3.  Smith

PF:  none

C:  1.  Gak

I don't really think we will need a PF in this class if we land a big wing or two.  If OG stays his junior year he'll play PF or if not JMo will start.  I do worry about getting a serviceable big.  If we don't land one in the '17 class we'll need to go through grad transfers to find one.  We can't go from Davis to JMo at the 5.  I don't think we need an SG either because we have enough and some of the PGs we are recruiting can slide over to the 2.  I'm really interested to see how the guard situation "works itself out" through this year and next offseason.  I know some are certain JBJ will be gone but I think another one of the young guards will possibly look to transfer.  This is an important class.  If we land a top 10ish class we could absolutely contend for 3 straight B1G titles and look to have a deep run or two.

Still predicting

Waters

Durham

Smith

Gak

If we lose Blackmon, OG, TB it won't leave me confident for next year. Not really sure what would though.

Would be a rough year for sure. Will need Wilkes for sure to compete

I'll go...

Waters

Durham

Wilkes

Tucker

Gak

And 1 of 3 of JBJ, OG, and TB stay for another year.  I guess I should hope they go 1-3 in the draft though.  Only kidding...

Starting lineup

Newkirk, RoJo, Wilkes, JMo, DD

Key reserves

Waters, CuJo, Tucker, McSwain, Gak

That seems to be at least a top 25 team

Interesting that they're landing a REALLY good class and are making the cut for several other top 2017 recruits Wilkes, Coleman, etc.

Projected to lose a ton. Selling PT is a good pitch, but your point remains.

My realistic class

Durham
Waters (Scruggs)
Wilkes (Smith) (Samuels)
Tucker
Huffman (Gak)

I really hope DD can hold down the middle as a sophomore and didn't expect to play as a PF. It's nice to see two "bigs" on the roster this season with JMo and OG big and tall enough to defend most PF in cbb. In the future, it would be nice to see a third big as a development big.
