Bob Knight reunites with man after 30 years

Recommended Posts

He's earned the right too. It's no different than most former coaches who do signings and stuff like that.

People want to cry because he doesn't want to return to the school that he feels screwed over by? I dont blame him for not wanting to come back. Some on here act like he brings up coming back every month, but the man doesn't talk about it yet people claim he's seeking attention? Everyone assumes he's going to show up and then when he doesn't these hissy fits get thrown and that doesn't make a bit of sense.

This is how I feel.  Its not like he goes out of his way to talk about IU and bash us.  This is no different than not wanting to spend time with somebody who you feel screwed you over in the past.  Could he be a bigger man and forgive and forget, sure he could but the lack of that isn't attention seeking.  Just because we choose to pay attention doesn't mean hes seeking it.

I haven't wanted him to return in years. Maybe you should really dig into his past a bit. There's things before you were born. And I'm a pretty loyal person.

Better yet. start a "who cares about bobby" like "fire tommy" thread.

You not wanting him to return is fine, but that still doesn't mean he's seeking attention like you claimed. I've dug into his past just like damn near every IU fan has at some point or another. When I was born has nothing to do with that.

But who is left on the payroll that 'wronged' him 15 or so years ago? A few people in the schools administration screwed him over so he in turns gives the finger to the entire HoosierNation? Unless of course you're a paying customer? Flawed logic. It doesn't even make sense.

He's not snubbing his nose at the institution that wronged him so many years ago.  He's flipping off the entire fan base that supported him through the turmoil.

Earned the right?  Any goodwill he has 'earned' over time, any sense of self-entitlement, has run its course and gone out the window.

Well hell, I told myself I wouldn't get caught up in this but I did.  lol  Look what you made me do!  :) :)

He is. He was rightfully fired and will never be man enough to admit it. I call that small stones.

Wonder if he feels screwed over by the school as he cashes in checks from loyal Indiana fans paying for his autographs and his books. Must be real hard for him to stomach.

That makes zero sense. He doesn't want to return to the school so based on your logic he should turn away IU fans who want to buy his books or get his autograph? Get out of here with that. Lmfao

Why does he have books to write and autographs to sign? In large part because of his brilliance as a coach, but also because of Indiana, the school, fans, and players. He chose not to forgive the school that gave him everything he needed to succeed, chose not to repay his fans by giving them the opportunity to applaud him in the Hall one more time, and chose not to honor his players who gave him everything and more and cemented his legacy.

Get out of here with the idolization of a small, small man who demonstrates only selfishness, stubbornness, and weakness in his inability to admit he was wrong.

Pat Shoulders. And while not technically on the payroll, Stephen Ferguson carries some pretty hefty weight around Btown. Pretty sure RMK will never set foot in AH as long as those two (at minimum) are still breathing.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree. You think he's being a crybaby and I think most of our fanbase is being a crybaby.

I thought Ferguson was a Knight supporter and was part of negotiating his last contract? I am pretty sure he wasn't a part of the zero tolerance vote due to those reasons.

My favorite quote from a story when Knight was fired due to how dead balls accurate it was...

"In the end, no one will be satisfied with the outcome, regardless of what happens," said David Pisoni, a psychology professor. "The president will come out a loser, no matter what he does."

Yes. And I can make an educated guess that Knight views it as a betrayal that the whole $#!t show happened while a supposed "friend" was in a position of power. Right or wrong, it's pretty much a guilt by association thing with Ferguson.

The Knight apologists eat this stuff up . Coach can't even be at the 40 year anniversary tribute for the 76 team but can be at Glenbrook mall signing autographs for a fee .

I'm " that guy " who's over Knight and proud of it !

And the Knight haters think they should be able to tell other people about what they should or shouldn't do and how they should or shouldn't feel. You are not Bob Knight so stop trying to demand he do something. He has a right to have his own views on things and unless you walked in his shoes throughout his entire life, let alone his IU tenure, you have no right assuming he should do anything the way that you would like.

Just not gonna throw kudos his way because he was nice to a kid for five minutes 30 years ago, and then remembered being nice to him at a paid autograph session this year.

You can "not throw kudos his way" without throwing insults and demands his way.

You could go ahead and start it CC. I am sure it will get a lot of traction just like the Fire CTC thread. That doesn't mean all of us fans will agree. I am old enough to know about most of his misdeeds but IU didn't fire him. Hell, they did nearly nothing to curb his behavior. If you want to be truly honest, IU helped grow RMK into the tyrant and asshole many of you believe him to be.

To be honest, I think he deserved to be fired. However, the way it went down was lame. For years they said nothing, then you have a hands-on moment with Neil Reed and suddenly he is under a "zero tolerance" policy. Hell, RMK had been doing that crap for years so what had changed; winning. I wish he had retired a few years sooner and you wouldn't be referencing "things before you were born" actions. But he didn't. So, when he was ushered out in a half-assed way, I kind of get his animosity. I wish he would accept IU's offer to reconcile with the program but I have accepted that it will likely not happen. Sad for him and IU.

Regardless, it isn't my place to condemn him for his irreconcilable differences with IU. He feels how he feels regardless of how many of you believe he should.
