USF DC Tom Allen hired as DC

Looks like the USF side leaked first as they already hired a new DC. Wonder if Knorr is going to be fired? I also wonder if this hire was related to CKW getting bigger budget for assistants. Allen was a first year DC at an AAC school.

At first glance this looks like an outstanding hire!

Allen's defense ranks in the top 40 of four major categories, including 23rd in scoring defense (21.1 points per game). A 247Sports report linked the first-year USF coach to Auburn's vacancy, which was made available by Will Muschamp's departure to South Carolina.

Then throw in the fact he's an Indiana guy. As CKW's friend Good Ol' JR likes to say:

South Florida: Linebackers / assistant head coach / special teams coordinator Raymond Woodie has been promoted to defensive coordinator, and previous defensive coordinator Tom Allen has accepted the defensive coordinator job at Indiana, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Could be really interesting even in this recruiting cycle. He is Colin Miller's recruiter to USF, and USF has the interest of a number of IU recruits for this year, including Craig Watts.

Hard to say. But there were a number of recruits that both USF and IU were after. It was going to be a very interesting few weeks leading up to signing day already, but it might have just got more so. Would love to see a press release from IU about this.

I'm betting that in most, if not every case, one guy is the boss, but the titles are often used to give additional pay to the other.

I don't think Allen would have left USF to take a co-DC role at Indiana. His prospect star seems to be on the rise. Especially considering Auburn was looking at him.

Really interested to see what happens here.  read an article that Tom helped to put in a 4-5-2 defensive scheme.  hope that doesn't mean another scheme change for IU.
