Turn 2 infield hill. :) Not a great view of the race at all, but we have a big group and enjoy being able to move around and hate being cramped in the stands. Used to be the Turn 1 hill before they took it out.

Also, Hinchcliffe just had another nasty looking crash a bit ago and he ended up getting flipped up. 4 out of 5 big crashes have gotten flipped now I believe.

Our first seats were the infield between turns 1 and 2. Always a lot of wrecks there.

Hinch's car didn't flip. It rolled on the side after the whole right side came off in the crash.  It tipped on the side and came back upright.  A tire or suspension failure sent him into the wall.  I don't know why they put practice on hold unless there have been other pieces that have failed on other cars.

It looks like he has some injuries and was taken to Methodist.

Edit: Hinch has a thigh injury and is in surgery.  Not good!

Yeah poor wording on my part. I meant tipped and flipped up made it sound like he tumbled. Saw that about the surgery...upper thigh could be a few things. Wonder if the front-first collision broke his leg or something?

Sounds like a cut or puncture to his leg with a lot of blood loss.  There was a car camera view that shows the right front suspension breaking. Was in the ICU at last report.

Holy Moly! Those last 15 laps were something else. Anyone expecting a Cinderella winner were disappointed by lap 50-60 when Penske and Ganassi controlled the top 7 and had a giant gap on 8th and back. I hope Saavedra(sp?) ends up OK along with those crew members that were run over by a teammate of all people.

P.S. Straight No Chaser represented IU well in their rendition of 'Back Home Again in Indiana'. In my opinion, IMS should just let them sing the National Anthem every year too.

Hell of a race. Man, these last 3-4 years have been insane. We're getting spoiled by these races. I couldn't care less if they go faster, this level of racing is more entertaining than speed. SNC sounded great singing Back Home Again. Jordin Sparks nailed the anthem. I cried during the tribute for the soldier killed overseas that was from Brazil IN. (Had to be there for that)

My complaint....NO MOTHER TRUCKING TENDERLOINS AT THE CONCESSIONS! WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FRENCH TOAST WERE THEY THINKING?!

1. great race

2. If you would have told me at the start of the month it was going to be a Penske vs. Ganassi battle all day I would have groaned. However, they put on one heck of a show.

3. Great run for Townsend Bell as usual.

4. Felt bad for anyone with a Honda. Rahal and Andretti were best in class.

5. Bristle did a great job on little track time.

6. I was really bummed Karam went out on lap one. I was looking forward to him moving up through the field.

7. I am an Indy traditionalist, but I prefer the Straight No Chaser version of Back Home Again. nabors had his day but it has been time to move on for a few years now imo.

8. Speaking of moving on, can we please put Florence Henderson out to pasture?

Disagree on 7 (although SNC was fantastic), but that doesn't even matter because of the level of agreement I have with you on 8. Florence gotsta GOOO.

Good for Juan Pablo who won the hometown race earlier this year too.  Very exciting race.

The redneck part of me is so happy that the Hondas were terrible.  What happened with Daly's ricer that caught fire before it even began?  Go American muscle  :)

I didn't know Florence Henderson was there, they didn't show her on tv.  Straight No Chaser sang about an octave higher than I liked though.

Great race King Juan!

It was a great race. The best cars ended up at the front. Pags and TK would have added to the drama, but ran into trouble.

SNC sounded better live than when I watched the race on TV. I don't want to see a new group do this every year. I hope this is part of a new tradition. Florence Henderson can keep singing as long as she wants. I want to hold on to some traditions as long as we can.

They better figure out a new way to give the call to start the engines. I don't think Mari Hulman George appreciated the assistance. We had to come home and see what went on. It looked and sounded strange live and looked bad on TV.

Honda has a big problem.  The rules don't allow them to make the big revisions they need until after the season is done. The big engine cover and dorsal fin doesn't seem to be helping. It might have helped Penske in the early 90's, but it doesn't help now.

That was the best fight at the front I have seen for a while. I focused on the top 6 all day, but was surprised the way JP worked his way from the back. I can't wait for next year!

Wish Kanaan had been there for the end.   It would have been even better.   Anyone but Will Power would have been fine.

Honda needs to stop putting pieces on the cars and take some off like Chevy did.  The wing tips stabilized the cars a little, but sapped speed, and you could tell all month long.  Chevys were a little more unstable, but a bit faster.

Florence Henderson misses 4-5 notes - badly - every year, and she sings a couple of verses nobody's ever heard.   Maybe they should let Purdue's a-capella group sing that one.   Wait...what?
