Video Ads

Why did you guys just start the video ads auto playing?  I used to be able to leave this up on my desktop at work all the time, but now will have to cut back on my visits, because I can't stand the ads automatically starting.  :(

Chrome primarily, but the same thing happens in IE.  It is only when particular ads with video are rotated to run.  Doesn't happen all the time, but then all of a sudden all hear stuff coming out of my speaker, and it is an ad on this site.

Chrome allows you to disable autoplay, don't know if it's deeper than your sysadmin allows though. You could probably ask them to do it if it is, it's a pretty legit request for an office.

Thanks Martin:  I wonder if my chrome settings changed from something.  I know I had it set to not play anything automatically.  I never thought about going back in and checking those!  Even we computer geeks learn something all the time.

Believe it or not in my real job I am a Google Certified Trainer!  I am supposed to know all about that crap.  :)

Then I'm mostly disappointed you admitted to ever using IE at all.

I've worked as an IT contractor, and I'll admit to using IE.  Granted if I have a choice I'll only use it to download Chrome, downloading another browser is about the only thing it's good for.

Unfortunately it's a Windows feature so it can't be uninstalled.

I only used it to see if it was happening in another browser.  :)  The only time I use IE is when I am working on our phone system.  The web site it uses will only work on ie.
