You mean, starting last year when we had a strong post presence in Vonleh or starting earlier this year before BBall season started?

I mean starting last year. Just because we had a decent starter we didn't want more depth. We have a serious need last year but we could've used all the help we could've gotten last year. Not sure if you really remember, but we didn't do so hot last year...

We didn't do so hot because we lacked shooters and they could triple team the post and leave everyone else wide-open. Having a football player risk injury to add depth to our strongest position wouldn't have suddenly gotten us to a tourney. Plus, it's not like it looked like (at the time) we would need to bring in more depth for the position, DD was developing into the kind of player Latham would be, Vonleh was a question mark, Fisher was still around, Hanner chillin'. It would have been superfluous. Heck, this year if DD hadn't been injured it would be superfluous to have them both.

Latham is big but does he really fit the Crean fast pace? The fella that went to NC State was tall and long but we did not think he could fit in the offense. Would Latham fit any better?

Does it really matter right now? It's not working with the bigs we have. We have to make adjustments anyway. Any other year, and I'd completely agree.

It would matter if he was injured and not able to play for the Football team. Why can't Tom curve his wingy addiction? We are in dire need of a Big and Buckley is rapping with a '15 unranked PG??? System set up to fail.

May not apply to Latham exactly---but I do wish we were reading/hearing about Crean and the staff beating the bushes and looking under all rocks for Bigs.  I would at least feel better knowing there was hope.

It reminds me of the song that says: "I'm all about the bass----about the bass---no treble".

Crean says: "I'm all about the wings---about the wings----no centers"!

(Yes---this old schoolers has 2 teenagers in the house!)

That's a completely different issue than Latham being able to play in Crean's system.

I could envision some massive screens!  :good:

Hey---I am all for doing whatever legally can be done to help us win---now.  If that's Latham---bring him on!

Crean has to know this is a huge year for his future as Coach as well----can't imagine he would turn away any help at this time.

We have got to score a true big during the coaching carousel when that time comes. This is assuming the team has pulled it together and is in the dance and the pitchforks stay in the barn.

Amen to that.

The pitchforks have already left the barn---I hope we have a good enough season to get them put back in the barn until next year.  LOL!

Ha' tried to keep it positive but you are right. Wife and I went to the SMU game and people were boo ' ing Crean at intro and complaining the whole time about the team and how they play. Terrible crowd until 5 to go. Crean will have to make the round of 32 to win people back at this point. I think the drugs and alcohol broke the camels back.

Wow.. sorry turning this thread into all the others lol.. carry on

You do speak the truth.

I am going to have to check out some Latham BBall clips to see what his game is like---I admit I am desperate to see us win----to the point I have been checking out what  Kasongo is up to in Idaho!  Sad and tough days for those of us who love this program so much.

I'm blanking out right now but what was that round mound of pounds name that played for Sampson. He oddly had some good touch around the hoop and was like 320 lol. We could definitely use him this year if he has any eligibility left
